Do you ever hear a favorite song and sing it then later you keep'on thinking of the song and singing the lyrics to yourself, and find
you are still thinking of it long after it should have left your'mind?
we were all singing I Cant Help Falling In LOve
With You, that was eleven this morning and here I am at twelve thirty and still thinking of the tune and the words. Sort of like a mind freeze.he he.

responses and comments:
that happens to me ALL of the time. I hate when it happens with a song that I don't like. I understand when it happens after I hear a song and it stays with me for the rest of the day, but I don't get how I can wake up with a song in my head. [here2learn]
hi here2learn Ihave done that too and wondered how come I would wake up thinking of the song and the words. Its'awful when its a song you dont even like. I am glad I am not the' only one with this glitch. [Hatley]
That happens to me all the time. Only I'll just have one part of the song stuck all day. It gets annoying after a while and I want to singing something else but some how the soong that was stuck always creeps back in lol. [gelibean]
hi gelibean isnt that the pits when you dont remember all the words and you keep trying to think of the rest of it. a friend of mine calls that brain lock. He says sing a different song and you will get rid of the other' one but it doesnt always work. [Hatley]
That is so annoying when a song is stuck in your head for too long, hahaha LSS (Last song syndrome) lol, even if it's not my favorite song, but when I heard a song that is kinda catchy, it stuck in my head and I sing it like, 100 times a day, hahaha but not the whole song, like a part of it. the last song stuck in my head was "Tonight's gonna be a good night" part of Black Eyed Peas. hahaha ^_^ happy myloting! [tyronie4cash]
hi tyronie4cash it does get annoying even if you really like'the song you really want to think of something else for heavens sake. Some friend told me to sing a different song and that will' knock the other one out of your head but it does not always work. [Hatley]
I hate it when that happens! lol I sometimes wake up with a song in my head and it sticks all day long if I don't listen to something else. Even then, it sometimes comes back. [peavey]
hi peavey yes it does get just too much specially when you want to focuss on something else. a friend suggested singing' a different song and that will knock it out of your mind. doesnt always work though. [Hatley]
Hello my friend happy I know exactly what you mean, that happens to me all the time, I heard a song irish sang and I could not get that song out of my head, I need to listen to it again come to think of it I need a nice song to play in head right now lol Great question funny how little things like this we tend to forget, I am listening to music right now but not anything that will stick lol How is everything going there Hatley? did they finally control the situation I hope so? my friend never got back to me, I am sure she is o.k. will call her again today. [kitty42]
I stood there and they asked me when to pull the plug and I could not do it, I felt like a murderer so we called his sister and she said wait til tomorrow.she was right.he died just a few minutes after Ihad hung up. God knew when to take him home.sadcrythumbdown [Hatley]
Heya Hatley! This may sound like a weird solution, but look up the song on YouTube, play it all the way through while watching and listening to it and then see what happens afterwards. wink There's a better than average chance you'll stop replaying it over and over in your mind after this. [James72]
yep nothing like trying ideas out and sometimes they work. [Hatley]
this seems to be occurring more and more in this day and time. the only solution is shock therapy or if you want a cheaper solution buy a taser and stick it to your forehead. [elmiko]
lolcrythumbdownhi elmiko well now the cure is worse than the disease so I think I will just live with it,its a pretty song and tasers kill. [Hatley]
I have had that happen to me before also. I do not know why it happens only on certain songs though or why it only happens some of the time. It takes a couple of days to get them out of my head too, it seems. [stephcjh]
hi stephcjh Yes it seems to be only certain songs, and stays with me for a day or so then I start thinking about a lot of other things and its gone [Hatley]
I tend to do that, but with highly inappropriate songs. Like "Dead Girls" by Voltaire or "Springtime for Hitler" from the musical The Producers. [deathspectacular]
hi deathspectacular oh my that is upsetting but that' was some movie, I had almost forgotten that one but the song Springtime for Hitler that was really something. [Hatley]
Hi Hatley, that happens to me at times, it is a nuisance as it is with you all day, sometimes a song I don't even like! lol Hoe you get rid of hearing and singing the song is beyond me, all I do know it is gone by the following day...LoLo [littleowl]
happywinkhi littleowl it is sort of a nusiance as you cannot get the thing out of your head until something else pushes it out.so others also have this happen. [Hatley]
The only thing I have found is to get a stronger one and put it in there instead. LOL! Replace the stinker with a good one??? [Irishfrndly65]
hi irishfrndly65 I think partof it is because it was my husband's favorite song but thats odd as I have' been a widow for years. but I think Bridge over troubled Water ought to do the trick. [Hatley]
yep, that happens from time to time. At least you were thinking of something decent. You could have been singing the Macareana lol [fwidman]
thumbdownsadangryhi fwidman oh yes that was really a craze for awhile and'I got so sick of it I wou ld cringe whenever I heard it. [Hatley]
If the song is stuck in your head, you could always just listen to other music, and eventually you'll forget about the song. Just make sure you listen to a variety of songs. [boboguitar1]
happyconfusedhi boboguitar1 what I did was to find it on youtube and listen to' the entire song as was suggested to me by a fellow mylotter, and 'I will be darned it really worked. [Hatley]
the roomie calls those "ear worms" [ElicBxn]
hi elicbxn Yes death isn't the most pleasant of subjects and there so much good to think about that is for sure. [Hatley]
Hi Hatley, I find in general I get caught out the other way more often, I hear a song I really don't like and it keeps playing round in my head and won't go away. Or the even worse scenario of a bit of mindless advertising jingle on the television will stick there. The latter most usually happens to me.sad [thea09]
hi thea I suppose he would have said had you actually screamed' thats not my mom, I dont even know her.he he he.Sometimes we' adults really embarrass our kids over our likes and dislikes. I have a tablemate who is from another country. she is forever ging "whats dis?" ow Whats Dat" andI am hard pressed to know'if she had ever seen that particular dish before. I mean I just assumed'most people ate about the same things, and its just not true. [Hatley]
Yes, that happens to me too quite often. Maybe it is because we love the song or it is so popular that we always hear it and it stays in our mind longer, yes like sort of brain freezelol [sweetie1026]
hii sweetie you too have a great evening. take care. God bless. [Hatley]
Whenever I have a particular song stuck in my head, I usually think of the Oscar Mayer Weiner song...you know it, I'm sure. It goes, "Oh, I want to be an Oscar Mayer Weiner, that is what I want to be-e-e-e! And if I were an Oscar Mayer Weiner, everyone would be in love with me-e-e-e." Are you humming it yet? [catdla1]
oh yes that did it,then I had to get that one out of my'head as i was humming it here and someone started singing it and everyone was laughing. ah yes campbells soup how could i ever forget that one. [Hatley]
Hi Hatley! That happens to me all the time! It can be any song that I might have heard or that I might have just been thinking about for no particular reason and they I keep singing it over and over in my head! Some people call them "ear worms". Some call them "last song syndrome" Some just call them "that annoying song I can't get out of my head"!lolw00t [Opal26]
happyhappylolhi opal yes that's really what it is,he he 'that annoying song I can't get out of my head. [Hatley]
Hey Hatley.........make friends with KrazyKlingon here on the lot. He'll send you a link to a song every day that will get stuck in your head, but at least it will be a different song each time! LOL [sparkofinsanity]
I read somewhere that it is called an earworm. It happens to me all of the time, sometimes it goes on for 2 or 3 days. If I play other music, sometimes I can get it to stop. Other times it just gets replaced with a new song. Sometimes it is still the same song stuck. My husband does not have the problem. He finds it amusing when it happens to me. [Debs_place]
hi debs place my husband used to laugh his fool'head off when it happened to me. he would play Bridge Over Troubled Water over and over then it would really stick in myhead until i found another song. He thought it'was so funny. then I would play You are the wind under my wings and he would throw u p his hands.he didnt like that song!! [Hatley]
Hatley, all I know is that the more you think about not thinking about it the more you will definitely think about it. I do this sometimes. I like it best when I wake up with a church or choir song stuck in my head or I dream it all night. At that time it usually seems like it is a message I need to hear. [GardenGerty]
oh gardengerty I love it when I do that and feel'maybe its God telling me to work more on my faith. i do that at times on sundays when we have a pastor who comes to preach to us and let us sing hymns then I go to sleep thinking of the hymns. [Hatley]
This always happens to me...I don't remember where I heard this advice but I do know it works...so here's what you should do... WARNING: it sounds totally ridiculous, but works!! Picture the song being like a caterpillar, go ahead and finish out the lyrics that are playing in your head, however while you are finishing out the lyrics the "lyric caterpillar" is slowly crawling out of your ear. When the caterpillar is out picture it falling to the floor and stomp on it.... Sounds stupid right, but it works!! Really though you can also just choose to not think about it anymore..hehe.... [jenysie]
happylollolhi jenysie I like your idea of the lyric caterpillar best although I did chose not to think of it anymore.he he he [Hatley]
This happens to me all the time!!! Is this the song you mean by Elvis? Wise men say only fools rush in But I cant help falling in love with you Shall I stay Would it be a sin If I cant help falling in love with you Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I cant help falling in love with you Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too For I cant help falling in love with you For I cant help falling in love with you [Grandmaof2]
yes Grandmotherof2 its a wonderful song and we all of us'went around gold crest humming or singing that yesterday all day.we had had a karoke sing along and I had missed most of it as I was yep mylotting but came down in time to get sucked into Cant help falling in love with you. [Hatley]
You are lucky to have got a mind-freeze with something that you love to think. So let it linger on for a while. Enjoy as long as it lasts. [meapas]
meapas yes as long as you are going to get it stuck might 'well enjoy one you love. [Hatley]
It's a pain isn't it? I have the same thing happen to me on a regular basis and it can be very annoying. I especially hate it when, for some unknown reason, I actually wake up with the tune on my mind and that is where it stays usually for the whole day. Ahhh….!!!w00t [paula27661]
hi paula its really annoying when its some darned song from a commercial for something you dont even like. I have got'up thinking about some silly commericial song. [Hatley]
I agree.I am feeling the same.I was watching an old episode of Family guy , they played "Never gonna give you up" by Rick astley. It has been two decades since that song was made, but i liked the lyrics and have been listening to it for record 120th time and still its running on my mind.I do have a good collection of 1200 songs in my ipod.Well guess i have people who feel the same way. Thanks! [UltimateAsoka]
hi UltimateAsoka yes a lot of us seem to have the same problem with songs getting stuck in our' heads. it is a human thing evidently. [Hatley]
Yes, that happens to me a lot and unfortunately it is usually the theme song from one of the kids cartoons that they watch all the time that gets stuck in my head! Now, that's bad! LOL To try to counteract that song in my head, I grab my iPod and listen to some of my favorites songs and that knocks the other song right out. [horsesrule]
horsesrule oh yes I just remembered when my son was little' he loved that Felix the Cat cartoon And that thing would'be sith mne all day long so I finally got on my radio and listened to'some classical tunes and that fixed it. [Hatley]
i always experience that thing, everytime i will listen to the radio or over my phone the music will goes on and on, on my mind.. and even i will go to bed i will surely sing it all over and over.. specially love songs and times when i am down and down, huhuh.. [janebeth]
hi janebeth I often take tunes to bed with me too, and'what gets me is when i cannot remember all the tune, and think why do i want to,but i do. ugh [Hatley]
I like that 'sortof like a mind freeze' cool saying... yes this has happend to me countless times..heheee Lori [dumblnddzzy]
hi lori yes I think its a human thing that sort of connects'all of us, my friend here at Gold Crest calls it ear worms. ugh thats sort of creepy but then he is a character who loves to'telljokes as much as my hubby used to. my hubby could always make me laugh ,and you know thats rarer than one wou ld think. [Hatley]
As a musician, I tend to be very musically minded and songs do often get stuck in my head. Sometimes even songs I cannot say that I like very much. I don't resist the songs. If they are there, they are there - they always burn themselves out, disappear and are replace with a different song. Sometimes it can happen for just minutes, sometimes hours sometimes days.. It's OK.. happy - Derek [derek_a]
Well yeh, Mozart was a brilliant and unique composer. I also like Bach, because his music because if you put a swing to it, it's jazz... happy - Derek [derek_a]
oh dear!!! i always have it in me as well... i have this kind of songs that keeps inside my mind. and i just cant get it off. i keep on repeating it time and time again. and even i think i am being nuts about that song! well i love music and singing and dancing as well. that is why i cannot live without all those music in me. but singing it and bringing it back always in head is like...."oh my...." can i have other songs? lol!lol jhelaiw00t [jheLaichie]
hi jhelaichie seems like a lot of us mylotters have' this happen to them.I love music too , classical, jazz rock, some hymns. and love to sing evenif I am not a really'good singer although Ihave sung in church choirs and college choirs. [Hatley]
Oh, tell me about it! The dreaded LAST SONG SYNDROME. Dreaded because no matter how hard you try to get it off your system, you can't.lol Like for instance, last week, there was a preview of a soap opera that was to start airing this past Monday and everytime they showed the preview, the playback was the song entitled "I Will Take You Forever". That same evening, as I was washing the dishes, I found myself singing the song. I ignored it and went on with my chore. Then when I took my pre-bedtime shower, I found myself singing it again and I realized upon reading your discussion, that I've been singing the song every night since during my pre-bedtime shower.dohlol [crazyoverpurple]
oh yes indeed it does make your voice sound ever so much better and you can even applaud your self so nobody can hear you anyway maybe someone should write A song called Singing in the shower, what a happy refrain [Hatley]
Since it came out in the '90s, there has not been a week of my life that goes by that I don't have "All That She Wants" by Ace of Base stuck in my head. ACE OF BASE! Of all songs to have stuck in your head! It's very frustrating! [sredith]
sredith I just realized I have been singing and hearing ' this song of the beatles for a long time now, I Cant Help Falling In LOve with yOu,then theres the old one Let It Be well at least I picked some top ones hehe [Hatley]
Yes, that's de javu for me. I always sing to myself in my car when I am driving alone. I will hum and I will sing with the radio on. When a favourite song comes on, I will break into song. Even though the song is no longer on the radio , the song goes on in my head as I try to remember the lyrics. Often, I will go back to the first few bars and then some. It will be this way until I reach my destination. [jonjee0203]
hi jonjee oh I love that song also and get started at Christmas singing it over and over along with Rock Around the christmas tree. thats another one 'I can sing over and over even now. [Hatley]
That happens to me a lot. Usually it's with some song from one of the kids television shows. Very frustrating. [Shar19]
hi shar19 my son used to watch the one with Kermit the frog and I would get that song about rainbows stuck in' my head and would frustrated trying to remember all the words. [Hatley]
lol. if you keep singing, of course it will continue to ring. What is more interesting for me is that the song suddenly pops in my head when I am asleep and I lie awake. [whyaskq]
hi whyaskq I have had that happen and often its a familar hym that I used to sing in church a lot. then it sort ofadeas when I get up and go about my daily routines. [Hatley]
ha ha ha...I go thru the same thing when I listen to trance music, the beats and the sound just keep humming in my head,to a point where I feel dizzy and I have a hard time getting rid of it.Thats when I quickly listen to some soft soothing relaxing music and find some peace. So music from another genre is my solution to solve this music from another genre humming in my head .Music is solution to the music problem :) [chosen9]
hi chosen 9 yes its usually something you love and the rhymn of ' it strikes a chord. so its good to go to a different type of music. I like to go to classical music. [Hatley]
oh dear, u got the last song syndrome (LSS), haha! it happens to me too. especially when the song is either catchy or easy to remember or been played like the whole day. what i usually do is watch tv or movie or listen to other type of music to get rid of it. ü [cherrc]
sadlolw00thi cherrc I sort of got rid of it by mylotting,as I had 'tothink of something else for a change. [Hatley]
Yes, i have a whole juke box going on in my head. I love it there!!! No need for a 3mp player or any other devise. I can hear anything i want at any time have the volume up or down and at times join in. And not bother the person sitting close to me. [jdyrj777]
hi yeah right. I was walkingdown the hall singing Hang down 'your head tom dooley, poor boy youre gonna die,and p eople' looked At me as if I had two heads for sure. [Hatley]
Hi Hatley, It does happens to me a lot, if there was a commericial on tv with a song, thats it, I'll be singing in my mind all day and night, its awful, you just can't get it out of your mind, like that song, "Neon Rainbow" it about energy saving advert, lol! Tamara [tamarafireheart]
hi tamarafireheart oh yea or the oscar mayer weiner one 'or campbell soup mmm mmm good. [Hatley]
yes, that happens to me very often. it gets very annoying when i'm trying to sleep... however, i do not sing (thank goodness, lol). sometimes, i don't even realize that a song has been playing inside my head until minutes later... not sure how it works, but i don't think the whole song plays in my head. just a specific part, or specific words, or anything that i'm particularly familiar with. [musicxrules]
hi musicxrules yes when it bothers ones sleep its really' upsetting specially if it one you have heard a hundred times. [Hatley]
It can be a problem for me too, I often listen to a different song to get it out of my head [K46620]
hi k46620 a different song does often do it and sometimes then you are stuck on that one. help but listening to a variety really does work. and also listening to plain 'music with no lyrics works too. [Hatley]
I know someone who is driving me nuts singing the same song for the past 4 - 5 years! To top it all he only knows the words to half a line and he even gets that a bit wrong! [snugasabugxxx]
hi snugasabugxxx oh well thats not so bad then just one line. maybe he will learn a new song yet. [Hatley]
When the first song of David Archuleta's Crush was became hit in our local radio, I can't help thinking about that song. And when his second single came out Touch my hand, it became the same. I guess that is normal, we keep on thinking that song because it get used to be inside our brain. Our brain get to used to keep that song playing. I don't know how to explain it since i have no knowledge, in regards with it, but I do have the same experience. [grecychunny26]
angrythumbdownrolleyes hi grecychunny 26 It must be a shared human thing as a lot'of people all say that has happened to them too. we hear the words,'we learn the words and we store them in ourhead only we keep hearing' them. oh dear well maybe another song will drive it out. [Hatley]
not a favourite song but I heard Lemon Jelly's Nice Weather For Ducks on the radio on Monday, and the sample keeps coming back into my head. Found myself singing "all the ducks are swimming on the water, fa la la la, fa la la la" today angry [jend80]
happylollolhi jend80 oh no now you have me doing it,I can just hear that' all the ducks are swimming on the water, fala la lad, fa la la la. help need to sing another to get rid og it [Hatley]
I don't do it as often as I used to but yesterday, I picked up a client to bring him home. He's a quiet sdort of guy so conversation was at a minmum during the 1 hour trip. The radio was on softly but for some reason I was singing...Hang down your head Tom Dooley, hang down your head and cry, hang down your head Tom Dooley, poor boy you're gonna die....and so on. It was just going through my head off and on all the way home. Do you know that one?lol [MsTickle]
You're such a riot Hatley...you certainly bring sunshine to that place where yo are living. [MsTickle]
Hi hatley. Its kind of same with me as well. But if I listen to another song then the song goes of from my mind. But if there is no source of music anywhere then it really gets pretty annoying and frustrating.By the way can I ask you something? Why is it that you have made 15420 posts but still haven't kept an avatar?? [Shames]
Hello Hatley. I have had such an experience before when I heard a very nice song and hummed it for a few minutes, but later it kept stuck in my mind even if I don't sing or hum it. Then I try to hum another, still it will come back to my mind. What a strange thing it is though! [williamjisir]
At least it was a song that you liked! It usually happens to me with some stupid song I do not like and then it is stuck there for days at a time while I try and replace it with something different, ugh! [Canellita]
I get that same thing. Funny thing, it's normally a song that I don't like or listen to often. It just gets stuck in my head and no matter how hard I try I can't get rid of it. Luckily another song comes along and replaces that one, so it's like a constant thing with me. [chertsy]
I get that every now and then. Sometimes it's allright if it's a good song but it's really annoying when it's some jingle from a commercial. !!Happy Turkey Day!! ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS** [twoey68]
hi Twoey happy Thanksgiving and I find I do have things to be thankful for also. hate those silly jingles like the oscar myer weiner one. really silly. [Hatley]
