You might say I just "discovered" Lady Gaga. I've heard her name talked about on different shows but never paid attention, then listening to the radio while in front of the computer I hear some songs I liked but never caught the name of the song or the artist. This happened once before when a song was played as background music on HBO (when I had cable)...drove me nuts not knowing the name of the song or the group singing the song...later found out it was Clocks by Coldplay..needless to say I'm a die hard Coldplay fan.
Well the same thing happened just last night. On Oprah Winfrey she had Lady Gaga...I caught the end so didn't hear what song she sang, so zoomed over to good old reliable Youtube and typed in Lady Gaga...nearly fell off my chair when one of the videos I watched was the same songs I've heard on the radio--Bad Romance and Paparazzi.
For those of you have not seen the full length versions of either song, yes they ARE very weird--kind of avant guarde-ish..you know kind of "artsy"? And just plain weird...but I love them and now I'm a fan of Lady Gaga's. And now can't get those two songs out of my head.
Have you ever become an "instant" fan of an artist/musician cause you're fascinated by their, well, weirdness? blink Anyone else a fan of hers or is she a bit much for you?
Here's a video, and I might add a VERY tame version of Paparazzi (to see the "real" version you have to go to YouTube

I like Lady Gaga. But I love her songs more than her fashion sense and her music videos. Innovative but a bit on the weird side for me, so I think only she can pull it off. Most of her songs are catchy, but she really has a good voice. I became an instant fan of hers when I first heard Just Dance. [MimiRemo]
That's right. A lot of artists have gimmicks these days to attract attention, otherwise they would be just like everybody else doing the same blah and their records wouldn't sell. But Lady Gaga really has the voice to back it up. As she said, you can be smart and in your underwear..LOL. Well, that's just her. [MimiRemo]
I am a fan but not really gaga over Gaga..=) I love her voice.. somehow similar to Christina Aguileras voice.. Her music videos are weird but i can say they are unique, sexy but not trashy.. Well, that's my opinion. My younger brother is gaga over her way before she got the spotlight. [maiohmai]
Yes she does have a good voice. Actually rather than Christina Aguileras she reminds me more of a young Madonna though [pyewacket]
I am not a Gaga fan... yet! But, I know that she is a good singer and songwriter. I think she and Katy Perry was discovered in Youtube, yes, Lady Gaga was a youtube sensation even before she made a name. I saw her performed in American Idol last year, and she really has weird fashion, that's her style. happy [hornetlover]
Oh, yeah! You are right, pye. I will check on that video "Poker face". [hornetlover]
Well witht he trouble I have been having with puter now it seems my sound is gone grrrrrrrr and my son had just out in anew one not long ago . But not sure if I have heard her or not and could only be when we play the radio [Lakota12]
yeah Not acting up the whole puter is a mess never know how long I can stay on line before it shuts off. Hope to be able to get a new one Weds. and then I am going to rebuild this one take my time with it! [Lakota12]
Hi, Pyewacket. I like Lady Gaga and most of her songs are great. She has amazing voice and she is innovative. I watched the video - this song is great and I liked the performance. I think GaGa will stay for long on the stage. [KompitaPita]
Yes she does have a great voice and her performances in her videos are really, well at least different...LOL--but in a good way [pyewacket]
eh..i'll give her props for being individual..but i'm not a particular fan of her music.although i do like the cartman from "south park" rendition of Poker face.lol dale bozzio from "missing persons" had almost the same style 20 years ago. [scarlet_woman]
Yeah I heard the Christopher Walken version where he just reads the words of the song...LOL [pyewacket]
I never saw her before the awards show but I really enjoyed her performance. Now I look at her in a different light and like what I see. She can sing, too, that is the thing, unlike Britney Spears. [nanajanet]
I never cared for Britney Spears eitherlol [pyewacket]
I'm not really too dussed about her to be honest. Good on her for being so successful and making something of herself, but for me, I can either take her music or leave it, no problem to me. [MrKennedy]
I just find her really fascinating since she's so different...LOL [pyewacket]
Hi pyewacket, Since I heard the first song (Just Dance), I liked her straight away. Yes, she's certainly very unique, I'll give her that much. Some of her videos are much more "strange" than others of hers....but she likes to look different and she loves fashion and from what I read about her, she likes to have an influence over the design of her clothes so fair play to her. She's certainly made a name for herself, some people say she can't sing and that's she's ugly but I think neither are true. She's certainly able to entertain anyway. I love Bad Romance too, have been listening to it quite a bit lately. Fiona. [fmpisces]
Yes I think she does have a lot of control over her work...was listening to something about her the other day, and she even does design a lot of her outfits that she wears...so great to see a performer having a lot of control over what they want to do rather than relying on someone else [pyewacket]
Hey pye! I think this is going to be the very first time we have ever been in total disagreement and I am very sorry! But, I can't stand Lady Gaga! I think she is weird, annoying and has no talent and I know that there will be many people who disagree with me because she is very popular! But, her song "Pokerface" leaves me wanting to "poke her in her face"! I can't watch her, listen to her music or anything! Sorry, but I just can't get interested in anything she does! And believe me I have tried on many occasions because she is all over the Net and everywhere else! [Opal26]
Okay just watched it...not too bad. You know what struck me though...for some reason the way she has that long white wig on...she reminded me so much of a younger version and the way Cher used to look-- [pyewacket]
I fell for Ms Gaga when I saw her on Barbara Walters. She reminds me of the young Madonna but she has a stronger voice. She seems like a nice kid. i still haven't heard any of her songs from beginning to end but I am a fan.I hope she gets her Grammys. [sarahruthbeth22]
The other night on the Oprah Winfrey show was the first time I've seen her, and yes she does remind me of a young Madonna----Madonna was kind ahead of her time since a lot of people used to comment on her songs and her fashion sense, but seem rather tame now compared to Lady Gaga...LOL [pyewacket]
Yes, pyewacket, if you like Lady Gaga you might just be a little weird!lolMy 6-year-old g,grandson is wild about "Papparazzi", and so is my daughter. I don't know why, but she just doesn't appeal to me. I think it's a case of liking a certain song by a performer, but not really a fan. With me it's Mariah Carey. She has made one or two songs that I truly liked but I would not say that I'm a fan.happy [worldwise1]
Yeah, and it's no secret that she's not exactly known for making wise choices either. [worldwise1]
I like weird artists especially if they are able to "stand by" their weirdness. Lady Gaga is one those I admire. She is really unapologetic with the way she Dresses and the way she moves. She wears her weird clothes with an air like she is just wearing shirt and jeans. I wish I could be as brave as her. Also, she never fails to surprise me with her performances. She burned a piano, I think, once. Of course, these weird artists I admire must also be "harmless". They are just the way they are, but they would not hurt anybody or encourage anybody to do bad. Have you heard Lady Gaga talk? Lol. She sounds sweet. cool Cheers! [Rainegurl]
I think it takes a lot of belief in oneself to pull something off the way Gaga does. Yes, I heard her talk since she was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show and she does sound sweet--kind of totally different from her image in her videos [pyewacket]
I still haven`t given an opportunity to Lady Gaga. Everyone seems to be crazy about her, but what I have heard so far didn`t sound very special to me. I think that hasn`t happened to me, getting interested instantly in any artist. If that happened, it would be because the artist is very good and original in his/her/their music. [madteaparty]
Well for originality you can't beat Lady Gaga especially when it comes to her presentations of her videos....and her sense of "fashion" if you want to call it that [pyewacket]
You're not alone. Lady Gaga is very famous in the Philippines, in fact you can hear most of her songs in the radio. She's just been here on a concert and it was a sold out concert considering that it's her second time. Even my 3 and 4 year old kids love her songs. Good thing they did not watch the MTV since as you've said they're a bit artsy and not suitable for minors. But lady Gaga is now a household name in the Philippines. [ybong007]
That's great that her music has reached where you are and that she's very popular there as well. You're right though her videos might not be exactly suitable for young children [pyewacket]
Hey there Pye,I first saw Lady Gaga on some show on tv..not sure what because I never really watch the tv...it is sometimes just on for noise effect. Anyway, she caught my attention and I thought, what a weirdo. then I was listening to some song on the radio and asked my daughter who it was and it was her...I actually liked it a lot. Some of her stuff is pretty good. Cold play....Oh my Gd! I love just about all they do! Ya, I stumble across either artists or a song and I'm in love but it doesn't always last. I loved a Blue October song...bought the disc and don't like most of their music. I listened to Cake...love almost all their stuff. The used was another group I just stumbled upon...they are great. "She wants revenge" is another group I just stumbled upon and love and looked up and downloaded more of their music from listening to just one song. happy [sid556]
Now I'm curious. I'll have to check it out. Nothing wrong with variety! [sid556]
The only bit of Lady Gaga I like is the chorus of Paparazzi. The rest of the song just doesn't do it for me. As for Lady Gaga herself, I find her a bit too eccentric but I respect her for her style. However, I often do wonder, how can anybody stand wearing those weird outfits every single day. Doesn't she ever want to, you know, just relax in comfy casual clothes? [witlessfool]
Well probably at home, she kicks back and wears jeans and a t-shirt like everyone elselol When you think of it, a lot of past performers were considered eccentric in what they wore...like Cher and even Madonna--now there way of dressing would be considered rather tame [pyewacket]
I love Lady Gaga, She is known for her up tempo tracks but her ballads are amazing too in my opinion. She is one of my favourite new artists and I think she'll be around for a long time. [lakerfanster]
She's 23, I can't wait for her next album. She's already released two although The Fame Monster only has eight tracks it's still a very good album. [lakerfanster]
haha! I like her too! love her songs and style. But lately, after seeing her performance and "outfit" on MTV Music Awards (you know the red blood-like Costumes and weird red hat which covered her face) I find her really crazy!lol But no doubt, Gaga is really talented. I like her voice and fashion for music. But, please Gaga lessen those crazy outfits and focus more on your talent. Okay?! haha!surrender [danitykane]
I think in many way things are relative. Another person who was considered very eccentric in what she wore and got a lot of criticism in the past was Cher ...she wore an outfit that got a lot of comments over and thought to be just as bizarre...of course nowadays her outfit would be considered mild next to Gaga's...LOL [pyewacket]
I'm not crazy about her. I just love her songs. But I have a lot of my friends who is. In fact, they have all the songs of Lady Gaga in their cellphones and will always play that at work if our supervisor is not aroundlol... Anyway, yes, Lady Gaga is such a talented person and I really want to see her or see her concert one of these days.happy [joannaleed]
I would certainly not try to copy her outfits. It's just so so weird.w00tlol [joannaleed]
She is good, what you mentioned was true, if you read at the lyrics there's a bit weird. Anyway, I LIKE THE WAY SHE MOVES...Real hot here, especially everyday on radio. Correct ah Ben, FF, and N****.lol By the way, pyewacket I want to tell ya something...you are really COOL.cool Happy Mylotting. [Hvaniday1]
I don't believe ya! No way, lol you've got more calcium than others... [Hvaniday1]
I've got just one word to describe my idea of lady gaga ... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW!!!! Ok first of i totally agree on the fact that you fell for her because of the weirdness she might expose and second, i find the beats to her songs are extremely addictive! I mean i hear bad romance paparazzi love game alejandro well it's a long list so i'll stop here, almost everyday. Thank you for being a fan and YES i don't find it weird that you became gaga over lady gaga ;) [mdaher88]
Thanks...glad to find another fan gaga over Gaga [pyewacket]
i am somewhat of a closet lady gaga fan myself but i'm not sure if i have heard the full versions of those songs *goes to check them out on youtube* [NatashaBird]
yeah, they're really good. really artistic and different. [NatashaBird]
well, i like her catchy song. the repeating of the words. her style is nice. but sometimes it is a bit showy for a conservative type like me. but when you hear the whole song, you can think of a double meaning. i don't know. maybe when i see her dance and all, you can think negatively. [donnakristel]
Well I think her style of clothing is more for her performances. Can't see her wearing those kind of clothes all the time...LOL [pyewacket]
I love Lady Gaga. I have covered her song: Bad Romance. I also remake Eh Eh and Paparazzi to Indonesian language. I love Gaga when I watch her Just Dance video on MTV Chart. But, I prefer to Britney. She is a legend and truly icon of pop. Gaga just new artist but really great too. [andryan7legends]
Yeah... It's really funny. Love it! [andryan7legends]
I don't really like her but don't really dislike her either, maybe I have to check out some of these videos :) There are a few songs of her's that I think are pretty good for parties. But the only time I've seen her perform was on Gossip Girl where her performance was a little odd but not that odd. So let me see what she's doing over on youtube :) [vivasuzi]
I happen to catch her performance with Elton John at the Grammies...Elton John in his heyday was known for his eccentric outfits...compared to Gaga they were rather tame--thought they made a great duo [pyewacket]
I saw one performance on American Idol and was not very gaga over it at all. I could see potential, but I just didn't like her style. Maybe another song... A couple of years ago, I was on another site (where I have most of my personal stuff), Multiply, and a friend their had just posted Mika's album (Life in Cartoon Motion, I think it was). So I played it and liked a lot of the songs and went and bought it. The kids actually like it too! [dawnald]
Nope, I missed it, but.... I do have tickets to see Billy Joel and Elton John on the 13th! [dawnald]
I like most of the songs that come from Lady Gaga! I like "different" types of artists. She definately has her own style! I also have checked out the videos on youTube. In my book, she's up there with Pink. [bestisyettocome]
I did see Pink on the grammies. Awesome performance..like last year! Lady Gaga and Elton John, of course, were magnificent! [bestisyettocome]
I don't like Lady Gaga either. Like you I love Coldplay more. I just don't like the quality of the songs nowadays:) sometimes they come out with really lame and crappy lyrics and not so good rhythm then i'll just be shocked that those songs will be popular in the mainstream.. I too also if it's just me but I love the 90's songs more. Sure there are some new songs that are still good today but I rarely appreciate the new songs nowadays.. [cecillecarmela]
Well I like Coldplay and I'm a big fan of alternatives, so when I heard about Lady Gaga I was like, who the hmm is that, and what eff is she wearing? And why would she call herself Gaga? You see, here in our country, Gaga is actually a curse word of some sort. That's why I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when I heard about her name. So I just shrugged her off. Until I heard Paparazzi, and I found that even my best friend who is much a bigger fan of alternative and all other sorts of rock songs, was fascinated with her, that's when I thought, there's got to be a really good reason why. So when I've learned about her character and her intentions for being the way she is, I thought she's given a curse word a very good reputation, and liked her songs ever since. ;) For instance I've been playing speechless on loop mode all afternoon yesterday. lol.
