Are You Among Those Who Hate Hip-hop Music

Well I am one of those who do. I don't know! I simply can't appreciate this genre. The rhythm seems all the same and the vocals sound almost monotonous to my ears. I'd get headache each time I hear a hip hop sound. But don't get me wrong, I understand those who love this genre. It just a matter of preference I think. If you hate or love hip-hop please share.

responses and comments:

i can't stand it. it is not my kind of music or what i even think music even is. [ANTIQUELADY]
u do have an ally. i'm sure the people who like it would not like what i like but to each his own. [ANTIQUELADY]

If this wasn't the web, I might be offended..as a child of hip-hop (born in 1982..around about the time when it was made known to the world) all I can really say to you is you are entitled to your opinion but all hip-hop doesn't sound alike..hip-hop is supposed to be poetry to a beat..it just so happens most of it is violent and maybe even offensive causing people to not like it or be offended..people always fear what they don't understand..I don't know if you gave hip-hop a chance but if you didn't there are so many things you are missing out on.. [ScarletAlston]
oh yeah thats the other thing, people of a certain age really just don't like hip-hop so I can't be mad at you about that...I love it, you don't like it and we can trully agree to disagree.. [ScarletAlston]

I listen to music for the lyrics and I'm going to have to say that Hip-Hop doesn't always have the most wholesome lyrics. I'd be hesitant to say that I hate it... because there are a few songs that I really can get into because I like what the lyrics are talking about, but for the most part I really don't like it. [allyoftherain]
Oh yes, that is one thing I hate most the overuse of the word "f#ck" that is annoying to my ears. But there are those who have good message as well in this genre. I just can't appreciate the beat as I prefer good message to be heard in a flowing melodious beat. [salonga]

happyHello there maam. I don't hate hip hop music, but certainly not my favorite type of music. I go for songs that are pleasing to the ears and those that tend to relax me. Most of the younger generation love this hip-hop music. Good day maam!happy [djoyce71]
Yes dear, it's the young generation that go for hip hop and I can't blame them if they do. It is just a matter of preference and they are entitled to that. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]

i dont y u hate hip hop..may be u hav not heard all the different types tat come under hip hop ......mostly a faster n mix of metal can the one tat rocks the todays world......but i like all kinds of music ...so no problem for me... [srinathrompe]
It's good you can appreciate such kinds! Well I simply can't and so I just avoid hearing to avoid headache. [salonga]

I agree with you about this new age songs. I never like hip hops, I don't see any beauty in this song. Not only it lacks nice melodic tune, the lyrics are offensive and vomit inducing. I am always a fan of the evergreen oldies. They never seems to fade with time. [zandi458]
The evergreen oldies I so love too. I can't stop loving them as they are more meaningful and the melodies enchant me. I agree with you that the lyrics of the hip hops are almost always offensive. I hate all the more when I hear them using the word f#ck in almost every line they say. I can't allow my car or my home or my office to be the place where they'd spread their unwholesome message. So sad though that I always hear them in the bus as I have no control over the driver's preference. [salonga]

Well, I appreciate almost all the music genres out there but hiphop falls under my "OK" category. I'm not saying it sucks but it just doesn't fit me with all the stereotypes being created and all. But , I do like R&B because you know... I love the vibe it gives when it's playing. [jamborieman]
I understand you my dear as we differ in preference. I know what you mean when you say you love the vibe it gives you when R & B music is playing. I too have favorites that connect to my heart. [salonga]

I've really grown to appreciate hip-hop as an art form. Some of the artists out there are lyrical genius'. The music is enough to get anyone up off their feet, it makes anything fun really whether it's doing chores or working out or even through long travels. But when you really sit down and listen to it you get a real piece of art. But that's just my opinion. [tjhtommyj]
I've tried several time to sit down and listen as I am quite curious why young bloods so love this form but sorry that I can't take the offensive words this hip hop sound usually carries. While there are those that are quite wholesome and better than the rest, most of them are simply not to my taste and causing me headache. [salonga]

Hi Salonga, I am with you. I love music but I don't like to hear those kinds of songs. I like melodies playing in a medium volume. I always prefer to enjoy the music in medium or low volume. I don't know how people can enjoy the music in a high volume. I noticed that those who like hip-hop music prefer to play the same in a high volume. I felt it is really a disturbance. But those enjoy the same, please enjoy it. [Sreekala]
Yes dear it is disturbing me just as it does to you. I also soft music that soothes my soul and not the non-melodic, loud and offensive lyrics these hip hop sound mostly carried. But I can't blame the youth as they have their own preference too. [salonga]

Am a great fan of hip-hop music.i have heard from so many friends that they do not like this music genre but i do not know why am so crazy about it.i do agree that they don't have good lyrics and it is not encouraging too.i like hip-hop because it has got good music with some rocking beats.I usually get attracted to music of the track rather than lyrics. That's why i like hip-hop.But if all hip-hop tracks open up with good lyrics and ways of singing, probably there would be more hip-hop fans like me [jaffna]
I understand your preference for hip hop sound as you are not alone anyway. Just go for what type of music you believe entertains you. Have a nice day. [salonga]

Hip-hop music is one of the music that was introduced in my college days.I do listen to the this music but i can't say that if i love or hate this kind of music.i can consider this music as noise. [dong1970]
The monotonous beat is just so boring and sounds like noise to me. I also hate the use of offensive word and the lack of good melodic beat. [salonga]

I don't hate hip-hop music ,although I don't see any beauty in the song .It always depends on my mood.Sometimes I will listen to hip-hop because it can give me some different feel. [lynne3171]
I on the other hand could not find any mood to listen to the tiresome monotonous beat of almost all hip hop songs. T want my music to have soothing melodies and not beats that cause headaches. [salonga]

I don't hate it and i don't love it also but i can appreciate it. You see my girls are into music and i too have loved music since i was a kid. We love music that much that almost all day when we are not watching tv or anything we just have music playing. They are more into alternative, r&B, acoustic, pop but they have favorties among the other genres. They do appreciate my kind of music too.My being into music gave me a chance to have a little experience as a disc jock in our local fm station back in my younger years and i havent lost my love for music. My youngest is the lead guitarist of their school band. I think i can work better with music on the background and they do too. I guess music is into our lives as we are into music. [sweetie1026]
Hi friend! So you worked as a DJ years back. Ha!ha!ha! How nice to have such an experience. This explains why you have high tolerance for any kind of beat. I also am a lover of music but not tolerant to Hip hop genres and hard rock sounds as well. I was a member of a glee club way back in college and have had solo parts in many performances. I now have opted to use my talent for singing in serving the Lord. I sing in the church choir and also do solo special numbers during worship services. My only son inherited my talent for music but he has the edge because aside from a very good singing voice, he also could play the guitar and keyboard expertly. I do play the guitar but not as expert as my son. He is the lead vocalist and guitarist in their band. Music is also part of our lives but we are just very selective. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]

i wouldnt say i hate it but lets just say that kind of music isnt high on my music interest list and leave it at that i like alot more romantic type music love songs that kind of stuff loud music isnt high on my list of favorites either lets just say you see any of that on my mp3 player lol [timhinyy]
You must be a romantic kind of fellow! Ohhhhhhh! [salonga]

i dont hate hip hop musice, i just feel the groove, its nice in my ears, alhtough im 35 years but i love it, coz i love to dance also, and i used it as a background in my daily workout, my children love this music also, they love to dance. [ana3173]
Ha!ha!ha! I could picture you and your children dancing altogether. You seem to have a very lively and active family. Happy dancing! [salonga]

I am right there with you. It annoys me deeply. The beats are repetative, and rarely are any real instruments actually used. Most of the beats come in 3/4 time, which also bothers me extensively. I still do not understand how a composition can be formed exclusively on a electronic drum beat. It is wierd. Not to mention, most of these rappers have electronic effects over their voices; which is also annoying when not used sparingly. Interestingly enough, I enjoy electronica music as a whole; but hip-hop and rap just ruin the electronic side. [ulalume]
Yes the repetitive or monotonous melody is simply irritating to my ears. The electronic drum beat I could not appreciate really. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]

I can listen to some music of this type but not a lot. I cannot stand the B's and Hoho's stuff in the lyrics or other disrespectful language. Which is sad because a lot of it has a good beat to dance to, but I think they sound totally uneducated and disrespectful and I'm not even old LOL [taface412]
Yes some are good but I could count on my fingers. Most have repetitive beat and worse using foul language I really can not tolerate. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]

I hate it, but my son listened to it and we argued all of the time.. Thanksfully, he grew out of it before I went totally crazy.. I think it is the most useless music ever put out in the world for us to have to listen to.. Sorry to all of you guys that do like it, but I really hate it.. [DonnaLawson]
I'm happy my son does not like hip hop sounds as well. It is my nieces and nephews who bothers me a lot when they are in my car. Like you I also could go crazy as the sound is a big headache to me. [salonga]

With all respect to those who grew up with the stuff and like or love it, I find no merit in it except for the skill of putting words together quite poetically. Regardless of obscenities and insults, it's still an art form. I try my hardest to understand that music goes through changes the same as the generations, but it's very hard for me to accept the loudness and the mode of this type. I find it difficult to call it music, but the times, they are a-changing! [mechanicNOT62]
I do object to those who play it so loud in their car that it invades and disrupts my driving comfort, vibrates MY car and annoys me awful! THAT should be against the law everywhere. I find it very ignorant to want to lose one's hearing, but nobody has the right to bother mine. [mechanicNOT62]

I hate hiphop. I call it Recycled garbage - because they just recycle some beats or melodies off of other music. The beats are repetitive and unimaginative. The only genre I hate more than hiphop is techno, house, rave and whatever else those dj's who masquerade as musicians call it. I prefer real music: jazz, rock, country and anything else that has a proper melody and rythmn to it. happy [spoiledbrat802]
Oh, you have made such a strong description of how you feel about hip hop. I am all the more convinced I have enough reason why I hate this genre. Certainly you are very right that the beats of this genre are repetitive and unimaginative. A song must have proper melody and rhythm but this one does not seem to have. [salonga]

I understand your feelings about hip hop because not everyone likes hip hop, but as for me I cant really say that I completely hate any form of music theres just certain kinds of music I like more then others, but hate is a strong word and if your a true music lover you can appreciate all forms of music even those that aren't your favorte in some small way.happy [apples99]
Well I dont listen to a lot of hip hop, but sometimes I do, I like all kinds of music rock pop alternative, and I love music from films like queen of the dammed and the film legend, one of my favorte songs from the film is loved by the sun, I think its by jon Anderson, and the one I like from the film queen of the dammed is called forsaken, its an awesome rock song in fact Iv bean looking for that song and I cant find it, well happy posting.happy [apples99]

I love the rock music, but I respect a lot the Hip Hop because their lyrics are awesome, and I´m talking about real hip hop, not that dudes that are shown in MTV like 50 Cent or other guys, I mean like Nash, MC solar and other foreign hip hop artists [juliotostado]
You seem to be so knowledgeable about the latest in this genre. Honestly, I avoid listening to this sound so I know so little about the artist but I understand those who are followers of this genre. We have individual preferences anyway. Thanks for sharing. [salonga]

Well I wouldn't say that I hate it, thats a strong word, but I will say I dislike it, I don't like it very much either, it gives me a headache too. To me it all sounds the same too, and I don't see why anyone would want to listen to it, but thats my opinion, I don't dislike anyone who listens to it, its just not my style of music, you can listen to whatever you want. Whenever my nephew gets in my car he tries to change the station to some hip-hop station and I get onto him and make him turn it back..lol. [walijo2008]
Well I hope I could just dislike it but I can't help but hate as they seem to be everywhere. Like you when I am in the car my nieces and nephews simply love them and that gives me headache and I would of course turn off the radio. Well, they'd all say I am old-fashioned. Ha!ha!ha! [salonga]

This music seems very immature and just the same old thing over and over. When one is used to rock and roll hip-hop seems very tame. I wouldn't waste my time on it when I have a choice of that or listening to ACDC. Nope! [celticeagle]
It's the repetitive melody of most hip hop sounds that disturbs me a lot and the rappers sound almost the same. It irritates my ear really and literally hates this genre just as I hate metallic sounds. [salonga]

I hate hip-hop music, actually I don't consider it music but NOISE!every time I heard hip-hop music I feel ache all over my body, it seems I am having migraine for the whole week. I don't know why people created that sort of thing where in face it is not pleasing to the ears!it is damaging to the eardrum. I prefer soothing music like mellow and ballad which are more conducive to my ears. Hip-hop music contributed much to air pollution because of its bad effect to the ears! [jlamela]
Yes, dear you have said the right word. I also consider this noise and not music. Although there are few exceptions though but almost all are messy and what offends me are the unwholesome words they usually use. Like you I also love soothing music. I believe music is the language of our soul so our personality is reflected in the kind of music we go for. [salonga]

I hate rap and hip-hop. It's too annoying for me. [Ctangerine23]
Ha!ha!ha! I am happy to hear I am not alone in my annoyance with hip hop. I thought I was abnormal but having heard quite a lot here disliking this genre, I now confirmed I have good reasons why I feel so. [salonga]

hi no i do not like hip hop music or rock music i only like good old country and gospel [deanna2]
Gospel songs are my preference and country songs entertains me as well. Like you too, I don't go for rock music as I hate it just as I hate hip hop. Thanks for sharing my dear. I hope you have a nice day. [salonga]

Hi my friend, like you do, I don't appreciate this type of music. Likewise the pants that they call hip-hop? I don;t like to see it either. Sometimes, the kids in church who are Using the hip-hop pants? I keep on teasing them that why heir pants are almost down to the knee? lollol Much more for the hip hop music? I don't like it esadither.sad [Bebs08]
Oh yes those hip hop pants I also hate my dear. It's good that our church is quite strict with the way people dress. We strictly enforce modest and respectable Apparel to all members. But visitors of course could not be controlled. Once in a while there are those who come with hip hop outfit. My goodness, I don't know what is good about that kind of pants. Ha!ha!ha! [salonga]

Hi salonga!Oh I hate hip hop music too..it just I don't barely understand the meaning, some are not wise and good to hear. And it a noise in my ears. I prefer love song or ballad will do. Well, we have different preferences, I hope those hip hop lovers will not hate me for this..rasp [mialei23]
Hello mialei! I prefer soft soothing music. I love the oldies but goodies, gospel, country, ballads and pop. Hip hops just don't sound like music at all. [salonga]

There are really some people who loves this genre and some don't. Some people likes jazz or smooth music while others hates rock or hip hop. We understand the situation. Sometimes, we consider the age and the sexuality of a person who prefers the certain kind of music, a certain genre. Most there are also some people, like me, that is so flexible with music. Maybe, we can say, that music is within the heart. "Consider yourself a musician and feel the music within the sound"... [neildc]
Well I hope I could be like you so I could tolerate my niece's desire to listen to it while they are in my car. I tried a hundred times to give them what they want but I always end up having headache as I listen to hip hop. [salonga]

Well I appreciate some and some I do not. So I do not despise all of their music at all. There are just some that is not good to hear and there are those that are good ones. happy [rsa101]
I guess that is what we call generation gap.lol [rsa101]

i cant say ,i hate it but i dont love it either.if given a choice, iwould go for those with meaningful lyrics with classical music.my kids ,sometimes gets excitedd when they hear this hip-hop type of music,i dont blame them, they are too young to understand the meaningless words and they have boundless energy to dance to iits tunes. [riyasam]
Yes it is mostly the youth who gets thrilled with hip hop. They are young and have different preference maybe. [salonga]

Hate is such a strong word. I don't particularly care for the music. I don't really understand how you can put on a pedastal...music about sex, killing cops, stealing, drive by shootings, and gangs and then wonder why our children in this country (USA) are the way they are. [carpenter5]
I know the feeling. My daughter is dating a policeman and the thought of someone making money from talk of killing him is just wrong. I know that censoring is wrong, but at some point can we draw the line? [carpenter5]
