I'm sure we all do a little bit of exercising or working out, whether at Home or the gym. It's a good thing..
I used to be into yoga before, and now I do a lot of cardio, but I couldn't do either without listening to my favorite songs on my mp3 player. I guess without music, I wouldn't be able to exercise and it would seem like too much of a chore. But with my favorites, it becomes fun and exciting. That's why in gyms, music is usually almost always playing.
I mean, just working out to music that is loud and rocking, and that is just right, for the situation, can make work outs really fun and really put you in the mood.
So do you agree that music is important for exercising? And if not, then can you work out without music?

responses and comments:
I think music is very important to me when excersizing/working out. Even doing house cleaning. I have to have music going as it sets my pace and mood. [warriorsdaughter]
yeah, exactly it sets the pace and the mood, I don't do any house cleaning so I don't know about that, but for exercising it definitely does. [vega83]
No, sorry. I find music too distracting for me during workouts. I like to concentrate on myself as I do it. Yes, I am aware that just sounded really strange, lol. However house work, it's a must! [sunshinecup]
well, whatever works for ya.. Everyone has different ways of doing stuff. For me, music is a must while exercising otherwise, I just can't do it.. [vega83]
Yes i think it is much better to work out with music It gives you a motivation and a relaxing environment to exercise ...My activities are playing baseball and Hockey and curling Of course no music but in Sports team efforts you donot need the music except for the opening national athlem Good Luck [vmks31]
cool, yeah, I guess in sports like that you don't, because you're already having too much fun, but exercising usually is a kind of activity that most people do by themselves so the company of music is perfect. [vega83]
I think music makes exercising more interesting because it has a beat and it's better than listening to the air-con or nothing at all. My earphones keep falling out of my ears so I've learnt to exercise without music. [sakana]
Well, I'm not filthy rich either, ha ha, I got mine from radioshack the cheapest ones there. They cost less than 9$ so it was pretty good. [vega83]
Hi vega83!! Yes you are right we can't work out efficiently without music.. I always used to hear music while i excercise my body..I can workout without music but i would feel a big tough and not satisfy after my work out..Thanks [Coolgeth]
Yeah, the music kinda sets the mood and the beat, and the louder and faster the music, the more pumped up you feel. And without music, I find myself very much aware of the time and the effort I'm putting in, but with music, I don't notice all that, so technically I can work out longer if there's music in my ears. [vega83]
Hello vega. I don't have much time exercising nor working out. The only work out I have is to tend to my household chores everyday. It gave me a good sweat too. I normally tuned in to my favorite music while at home doing all the dreaded chores. But I agree that music can somehow lighten our mood and ease the tension out of our bodily system. Listening to music has this powerful effect on each one of us. [charms88]
Well, that's your workout then, and I know those chores are hard, I really run from them, but when I do have to do chores, I prefer music too, it just makes them less tedious and more fun. [vega83]
recently i hv started following Art of living ,were we need to sudarshan kriya which is mainly pranayam or breathing exercise for cleansing of ur mind and various glands, that i have to do in absolutely calm environment as i have to concentrate on breathing ,though i looooove music any other time and music gives me rhythm to work.lol [aissha]
Yeah, I do a little bit of yoga too. I think breathing exercises are really important, of course concentration is a must for them, so music won't be appropriate, but I do a lot of cardio too, for which music is so important. [vega83]
Sure I can. I can work out with or without music. After all, if and when I go for my run, it would not be too convenient bringing music with me. The more important key is whether we would exercise. [lordwarwizard]
For me, if there's no music then exercise just seems too tedious, but with music in the ears, I don't notice the time or the effort I'm putting in and end up exercising more than I would without music, I get bored easily so it's a must for me. It's not inconvenient at all, I run too, and I have my small mp3 player, and I got these earphones that have the plastic narrow end that rests right inside the ear, it's very comfortable and doesn't keep falling out of the ear, like regular earphones, so it's not inconvenient at all. [vega83]
No i cant really do that.I like listening to music while working out as it also helps in maintaining rhythm in your body and also it keeps you energetic! [Manjyot]
Yeah, it sets the mood, the pace, and the rhythm.. [vega83]
Exercise is a matter of discipline. While music does help during workouts, we can do without it if we really are serious about getting physically fit. There are other forms of exercise that do not really require music like weight lifting, treadmill, etc. [mjsg2468]
I care about being healthy and physically fit, but that doesn't mean I have to do like a chore with "discipline", I would rather also enjoy myself with my favorite tunes, and I run so I'm sure even on a treadmill it's really important, it just works for me.. [vega83]
yes of course u can workout without music but it gets kinda boring so music is kool [gh_passion]
yeah, it's so much more fun with music. [vega83]
I can workout without music but I don't like to. Music keeps my mind busy so I don't watch the clock thinking about how much time I have left. Music just makes it more enjoyable, besides it is about the only time I can listen to "my" music without the kids wanting their's on. [dragonokiefly]
Yeah, exactly, if music's on, I can exercise much more without noticing too much or getting bored or tired. It just makes things more interesting. [vega83]
I don't exercise as often as I should, but as I walk to and from my bus stop and office, I like to listen to my iPod. Having something with a good beat gets me walking quickly, so that I can get to my destination faster. Also, I occasionally will belly dance for exercise, and you pretty much can't do that without music! :) [scarywhitegirl]
Oh yeah, of course, that and aerobics too. I think belly dancing must be fun.. [vega83]
I totally agree music plays important role in work out. Without music, anyone can but not able to bring coodination of workout with the mindset. music helps and create coodination of mindset with our workset. its like a helping hand, and boost the efficiency of individual's. [swatig]
yeah, a helping hand, gives you that additional boost, you're absolutely right. [vega83]
well, i much like listening all kind of music, yes. For exercising and do some homeworks I usually listen some. But i canīt study with it. [verdurilla]
Yeah, studying with music on is a little distracting. Although if you're doing something like math, then it's ok. [vega83]
I've had a membership to the gym for a really long time now and I didn't go as much as I should. I was just really bored, because there was no music playing, I wasn't interesting in what was on tv and I didn't have an MP3 player of my own. So just recently actually I went out and bought an MP3 player and wow I've been going to the gym a lot more. I run in the mornings a couple miles then workout after work. They are great, it keeps me occupied and also keeps my eyes off of the clock which was my main problem. It really helps, I love listening to music while working out. [x3temptationx]
Yeah, plus it makes exercising feel less like a chore and more fun and you don't keep looking at the time, if your favorite track is playing. [vega83]
yeah,i absolutely agree with you,the music is very important for exerciseing or work out.I think the music will bring your relax, cadent. You will do exercising or work out following the music's cadence.I don't have any exercising in my life,i don't very like sports. My favorite is surffing internet, also like to listening music. [fengbo]
well Surfing the net is hardly an exercise, ha ha. But I think it's important to incorporate some form of exercise for Health reasons. [vega83]
Yes. I can definitely do my exercise and workout without music . Infact, I have been doing them so far without any music only. I have seen people doing their exercise with music and heard them saying that it feels really good to do them with music and also that they do feel less tired when they exercise with music. Got to try it once. [senthil2k]
Yeah, it just seems less of chore and it's more tedious, if you're enjoying the music you barely notice what time it is and when you'll be done. [vega83]
When I'm lifting weights or using the weight machines, I can workout without music. However, when I am doing cardio (treadmill, running, stairmaster, etc), I definitely need to have music or a television in front of me. Doing cardio is so much of the same thing that I get bored. So, I must have music to keep me going or I just can't workout. I have tried doing it without music, and yes I did it, but it was the longest workout of my life... or at least it felt like it! [jessicalynmartin]
Yeah, it does save from the boredom, I think even in lifting weights, it can give you that boost and you can lift to the beats. [vega83]
I do think music does motivate one to work out however, I don't need it to work out. Whenever I work out at home, I don't play music. [candiec2005]
Sure. I don't always listen to music, yet I like to exercise and sometimes music does help but generally I don't go for it because I'm more into silence :) ~Joey [joey_matthews]
Sure, whatever works for ya. I just get bored if there's no music. [vega83]
i think without music, you tend to get tired even faster.. it won't psych you up at all.. but then, it depends too on the music.. one can't listen to elton john while exercising, can they? :) i could exercise either way.. but of course it's waaaaay more fun and better WITH music. [shemah]
ha ha, yeah, of course the right kind of music does make all the difference. A little bit of rock or rap works for me. [vega83]
the only excercise that i do every day is ride my bicycle, but i canīt imagine without music i always ride my mountain bike with my ipod, but with a low volume because is dangerous. in my city the Cars doesnīt respect the bikers so i have to ride very carefully. [limalimon]
Oh yeah, if it's outside then you always need to be aware of the surroundings as well, so low volume is good. [vega83]
i cant work out widout music..its like a must.. it creates some kind of mood n its fun to exercise..otherwise it becomes too boring [warmheart19]
yeah, it becomes too boring, tiring and tedious, without music. [vega83]
I listen to music with almost every activity. I do take my walks without music along, but didn't used to. I also put on some energizing music when I'm mopping or vacuuming. It's the only way I am going to get it done! [karenssis]
Yeah, especially chores, I can't do them without music, I don't do many chores anyway, but if I do I tend to get bored easily so music's a must. [vega83]
I actually do better when I work out with a TV, because then I really lose track of the time and concentrate on what is going on the show I am watching! I get bored when I am on the elliptical or treadmill and only listening to music. But, when I am in an aerobics class, I really do enjoy the music going, it keeps this otherwise very uncoordinated person in rhythm!! :) [amyann16]
well, I don't have a treadmill so my exercising is different and can't be done with a TV, but that sounds good too. [vega83]
I like listening to music while I exercise because it makes me want to work out harder.I like also playing music while I do my house cleaning. [babystar1]
Yeah, TV can be great too, I do that when doing sit ups and stuff. [vega83]
Well sometimes I put on some aggressive fast anger generating music you know one of those "struggle for freedom" movie music. Otherwise I'm used to exercising without music, helps me keep the count of my exercise. Enjoy myLot. [raptor47]
Well my music helps me keep count too. For example instead of timing my runs, I run through 3 full tracks straight, so that's a timing in itself. [vega83]
i love working out with music, specially if it's rock or some kind of hard techo music, nothing slow because it's not the same. Rock music that i like usually gives me more energy and put me into a working out mood [t1ger1]
yeah, the right music helps. I like rock too, and some nice rap is good for me too. [vega83]
I actually work harder when I am listening to music while walking or exercising. I like fast and loud music as it gets me going and often I walk in beat with the music too LOL [maddysmommy]
Yeah, and you barely notice the time go by when you're exercising to your favorite beats. [vega83]
i cant workout with out musice...you are right it does feel more like a chore without it.....listening to my music really gets me going....when i good song comes on i kind of make my movements on the eliptical with the beats and i tend to go faster and work harder with good music playing!! [lilmrsarata]
Yeah, and the time goes by much faster with the music than without it. [vega83]
I know I have to have my music when I'm exercisng cleaning I have to pump some tunes. [hardworkingmom]
Yeah, just changes the chore from tedious to fun. [vega83]
Nope. Music gives my movement rythm. Without it, I will lose balance and won't be able to concentrate. Working out will be as dull as watching my plants grow.. [loverenth]
Yeah, you're right. It would be so dull without music. [vega83]
I prefer to work out or excercise to music....it keeps me going, and it keeps my mind off the excerecise that or work out that I am doing. But lately with bad feet I can't do a lot of excercising or working out.... Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
Aw, well i hope you feel better soon. [vega83]
hehhe your avatar caught my attention. Is your avatar exercising or what? Anyway, I do that everyday. Yes without music. I don't mind really exercising without music. But of course it would have been nicer to have music on. It just gives you the feel of it and motivation and enjoy what you are doing. [bestfriends]
For me I get bored if I have to time myself using the clock, I'd rather time myself by the number of songs. [vega83]
Yes I can exercise without music its ok with me. I do that in the office using dumb bells and its ok, as long as theres counting it will do. [Zelmarq]
Well, I can't..I need music for me. [vega83]
I can, but i find that exercise makes workouts alot easier [missportmore83]
Yeah, music makes it a lot easier and more fun. [vega83]
Music actually distracts me from my workout. I can't walk while listening to music because I get so into the music I don't hear things around me. I almost got hit by a car once because I was walking on our country road and didn't hear the car coming up behind me. I was dancing while walking and almost danced out in front of the car. [myfanwy65]
ok.. well stop dancing on the road, ha ha.. or you could just put the volume on low and stay on the sidewalk.. [vega83]
I think music is a very important thing when it comes to working out. I am however able to work out without it if I have to. But I don't like to. It always helps me to get moving and motivated. I usually work out to Comcast On-Demand exercises. They usually have some music in the background but what bugs me on there is that sometimes the people do not stay with the beat of the music and that bugs me to no end!!! I also notice that with great music the time seems to go by much faster. [LydJoyS]
Yeah, it does go much faster, and you don't really feel that you've worked out a lot whereas without music I feel tired really soon. [vega83]
Of course yes...you cannot do anything when it is brown out so I'm pretending that there is music so that I can continue do my exercise. :) [simple_butterfly]
Well why do you need to pretend, when you can actually have music? [vega83]
music it seem part of my life I love music while I am cleaning my house or doing laundry. Especially if I am depress I love to turn on my music so loud.I can't live long with out music I guess! (LC) [subrecary]
Well, nothing wrong with that. Music can really change the way we feel sometimes. [vega83]
I can exercise without music, but I'd prefer to have the music on. I think music can make the time go quicker and it makes the workout a little more fun, and it can also help set a steady pace. [elisa812]
Yeah, it does do all that.. [vega83]
I can do my excercise without muzik or listern to the song but it would be very nice to have it.I like yoga and i would prfefer soft and calm muzik when i'm doing my yoga. The muzik makes you feel relax and calm which is very helpful for our body. [321633wy]
Yeah, with yoga something ambient is best, nothing too loud or fast. [vega83]
Short answer -> Yes, of course i can exercise without music, but i find that music tends to make you exercise a whole lot more! (Ok, so maybe that wasn't such a short answer after all!) [buzzmonster]
I select my dance music and it gets the body going..I could just turn on dance music and it makes me want to get up and go. Music all the way for me...the only way to go!! [sweetmimzim3]
yeah, girl, for me too! [vega83]
Yes, I like to do that. I set my TV on a music channel and then I can dance and do exercises. I like to do "my version" of a belly dance. It's not pretty folks. :~D [charlene2350]
Well, we'll have to be the judge of that, ha ha.. [vega83]
Hi vega!!! I really can't work out or do exercise well without music. Music makes me feel relax and better when i work out. I can feel that time passes faster and put in me great mood. Music is so important for me, especially when i'm at the gym. [haylienguyen]
Yeah, for me too, I'd rather time my cardio with the number of songs than the number of minutes. [vega83]
If I am walking on the treadmill or doing floor exercises or exercises with my exercise ball then I love to have music playing. Often, if I am walking outdoors, i walk without music because it is such a good time to think and/or clear the mind. Some days though, I want music when walking outdoors and I take my IPOD. So, in summation, about 85% of the time I have music! Loud, driving, exercise-type music! [crazynurse]
Yeah! That kind of music just sets the pace and the mood. [vega83]
I do like to listen to music when i do excersise. [arunbongale]
I go for my regular jogs everyday during the dusk and i dont carry my portable player with me.It actually diverts my attention while i jog.So i'd rather run without the music. And while working out at home,i do few exercises to stretch my muscles.I dont use music for this too.Stretching of the muscles requires you to take your own time and following a pace could definitely do you damage with your muscles. As for cardio and aerobics, they do need music cuz you follow a rhythm while doing it. So no,i dont use music music while I work out cuz my work out process does not require them. [sensesfail]
I don't know, still like to have fun. If there's no music, it will seem like such a chore, and if it's anything remotely resembling a chore then I get so bored of it, and pretty much stop working out all together. I just need that musical motivation. [vega83]
Ya but it would be very boring. Music is the sound of life and can keep you going long on When you are tired. [natious]
Yeah, you could work out more with music and not even feel it.. [vega83]
Hi. Actually I like to workout to metal or fast up beat music, I have worked out to no music at all, and found it a drag... So you can work out without music, its just a little boring, these are my personal views... [Nardz13]
Yeah, it can be a 'drag' without music, you're right. Music makes it more fun. [vega83]
Not only can I, but I insist on it. The music is what gets me motivated to move. [Rozie37]
Yeah, me too. It makes it more interesting and fun. [vega83]
Yes, I can. But at least there is a TV. [badrun]
Well I guess that's almost the same.. some media. [vega83]
no i cannot work or exercise without music because music generate the power to build your muscle keep you cool in qym or in home. [robin_singh009ist]
Yeah it does get us motivated and pumped up. [vega83]
yes i can do it without music. but it would be better if there is. that would relaxing and stimulating depending on the kind of music though. [jb_vete]
Yeah, I can exercise without music, I used to before but it got so boring that I quit. Now it's motivating because I know I can listen to my favorite tunes. [vega83]
My answer only and only vows for Music cause music is my heart and soul.I can live in music sleep in it.Walk anywhere i want and just die with it.So for me exrecise without music i just completely impossible.I guess while u exercise music acts in the favor the theory of relativity and u just dont know how well u pass out your time. Thus Music is damn essential to me. [sarangsadh]
Wow, haven't seen so much passion for music, nice! [vega83]
Yeah I think music is important in exercising or working out. Sometimes it helps to boost our energy and sometimes its fun to workout with the help of your favorite song. [Megzzz]
Yeah it really is a huge help. [vega83]
i absolutely cannot give my effort in a workout without my music. SOmetimes my physical therapist gets annoyed with me because i have to decide what to listen to on my iPod, but you know what? It is about what helps ME, not what helps HER. She actually tried to take it away from me today like i was a littlekid in school with something i wasn;t allowed to have. That pissed me off. i wouldn't let her take it. i'm 23, not 5. [xfallenxlostx]
Yeah, that's the way to do it. You're right, it's what helps YOU not her, but I guess she is trying to help you too. I guess you could put the volume a little low so that you're still able to communicate. You know, middle ground. [vega83]
yes i can, although i prefer to have soft music while working. But when studying, i dont want to hear music specially if i am familiar with it. I tend to sing/hum with the music and find my self not studying [yammydudes]
Well I actually meant working out and exercising.. it would be distracting while studying. [vega83]
gosh, how can you do yoga with music on? that would put me right off my breathing and stuff. not to mention no chnace of my cd player staying attached to me! [indium]
Well I used to do yoga, not that much anymore, got bored of it.. [vega83]
I think it will be hard to exercise without good music. I would feel awkward without music plus the music actually helps in motivating me in to continuing with the exercise, even during jogging, i plug in my ipod and listen to music. I don't think that music is vital to exercise but it would definitely be a big plus factor in the motivating factor of exercise [chaime]
Well , for me it's vital, so that I don't get bored and am consistent with the exercise. [vega83]
Yup I can do it. However it will be great if there is a music though :) [kawaii24]
Yeah, trust me, it's much better. [vega83]
working out with no music is boring. i think it is better to exercise with music, because it makes the work-out more alive, and makes you more energetic :) i don't think i've worked out with-out music on.. music really helps to get you going, especially if you're working out alone. [teleios]
Yeah it does, and i work out alone so it totally works for me. [vega83]
I can do with music or without. I usually go for a walk, but usually when I do I am either making up a story in my head or counting while running for one minute and walking for two. I am also a bit of a cheapskate. I do have a Cd player but it is a cheap one and skips so I have to stop. I have not tried my mp3 player recorder yet. [suspenseful]
Well, I'm a cheapskate myself, but these days the mp3 players are so cheap. You could get one under 50$ with good sufficient memory, it's better than a CD player. [vega83]
I don't mind doing exercise without music, but its much better to work out with music going on... [magnel]
yeah, much much better. [vega83]
Yes music is very vital for exercising and it can be traced to so many events. Take for example, a night club, people can go on dancing for hours without getting tired because of the music playing, The players of a football match become more energised when their fans make noises and play music to them etc. Music is important for exercising. [obukohwo]
yeah it is really important, for a lot of things, it just makes things more fun. [vega83]
I am never used to do any exercise with music. I exercise a lot and mostly i perform yoga. Yoga requires lot of concentration and while listening to music i cannot concentrate. Neither anyone else could concentrate...So i do not prefer music during exercise. I think music is best suited for gym and aerobics... [jade1986]
yeah, for yoga a little ambient music could set the mood and be really soothing, like in yoga classes. [vega83]
Dancing is my exercise. That only shows and means i need music in order for me to be able to do my routine. [crycutie]
oh yeah, then it's a must for you.. [vega83]
I think generally, in a way music can help in exercising. However, it really depends on the person doing the exercise. As for me, I now exercise at home without music. I am not particular of whether or not there is a music accompanying me while I am exercising. I am more concentrated on what will I do next in my exercise. I want to feel if I am really sweaty already, lol or I can feel the heat of my body. That is, it doesnt matter whether there is a music around or not. [bestre]
Well I get so bored and tired easily without music while exercising so I really need it. [vega83]
Well i normally can exercise without music but with music , i can exercise longer without getting bored easily yea [Sir_bobby88]
Yeah, that's the case with me too. [vega83]
I agree that music is essential to motivating me to do exercise. There's nothing like "rocking out" while getting your heart rate up. That's one reason why I stopped doing Pilates--the music was putting me to sleep (not that I could imagine doing the Saw to AC/DC or anything, but I need something a little more up-tempo). [SereneDragon]
Yeah me too. I did yoga before myself, and it's good especially the breathing part and the stretching but it can get so dull. [vega83]
never.. i can never be witout music, even when im studiying, in class, in tuitions, i'll always have my earphones in my ears wit my fav' songs playin from my mp3 player.... [christianjnorman]
Hey christian, long time no see.. Well, welcome back. You listen to music in class? wow. [vega83]
I cannot work out without my Ipod. It's a lost cause. The only thing that keeps me going is rocking out to fast paced, loud, danceable music. I play a game with myself if I'm having a hard time getting through a workout, I force myself to listen to at least 10 seconds of each song before I change it. It makes time go by faster and sometimes after I've listened to 10 seconds, I'm already rocking out and end up listening to the whole 3 minutes of the song. Thanks for starting this thread. I think it's time for me to leave the computer and get a quick workout in! [cheapterri]
I definitely like your idea! If I can tell myself, "okay just work out through three songs" it will probably be easier than setting up an amount of time to make myself work out. I'll have to try it. [cheapterri]
i absolutely HAVE to work out with music. i cannot work out without it. However, i am also very picky about what i listen to. i work out at a women's gym called Curves and i hate the music they play there. i bring my iPod and listen to my own music while i work out so i don't go insane. [xfallenxlostx]
Yeah, I guess music of your choice really matters. I can only exercise to music I like. [vega83]
I can work out without music but i fell that it doesnt bring out the most of what i can do when i excersice while listening to music, especially inspirational music or rock. My favorite work out music is of evanescense and D12,followed by Iron Maiden. Your right , it certainly puts you in the mood to do whatever oyu set out to do, taking out the boroedom from it. [di1indilin]
Well, these days I just put my mp3 player on random and just trust it to play me the music I'd like. Of course I'd like all of the music in it, anyway, since all the songs on my mp3 are my favorites anyway. [vega83]
Well as for me I can work and exercise without music. With music honestly, it feels better, I don't deny that (as long as it is not Cena's entry music :D), you know there was a time where I could not even drive without music but I have trained myself 2 do without, why ? I try not 2 be a prisoner 2 a habit. It may not make sense i know I am initiating a discussion on that so your participation is highly welcomed ...... [deadraven999]
Yeah, well, you do have a point, but sometimes for some things you gotta trick yourself into doing them. For me instead of timing my run, if I give myself three songs to listen to while I do I do my run, it's much better than using a stopwatch, but then I can't do it without music at all. In fact the other my battery was worn out, and so I just couldn't do it. I know, prisoner to a habit.... Oh, and yeah, I've got 7 songs from Cena's album on my mp3 player as well..No surprises there. [vega83]
its not as much fun, and it seems to take longer without music! [lpetges]
Yeah, you got that right! [vega83]
I guess that I could actually exercise without music but I would rather not try. I have found that I do listen to different music depending on what type of exercise I am doing. While doing my walking 5 days a week I like to have upbeat music playing. I find that I can walk farther then I thought I could push myself. [razcal2267]
Yeah, I've discovered that too, just singing along the song, the time passes by so quickly too. [vega83]
i agree that music is important to get you pumped and motivated. i think fast paced Hard Rock or heavy metal is perfect. Some gyms i have been to play music way too loud! it is hard to conncentrate and just gives you a headache. [dsantacruz]
Yeah, I guess because it just can't be any music but music you like, not just any crap that people play. [vega83]
I have one of those steps things from when step aerobics was popular. I put it in front of the tv and kind of walk/step on it for about 30 minutes a day. Yeah, it's boring, but I can make it really challenging by adding weights to my ankles and wrists. And, I am going to get a weight vest from Wal Mart that has pockets so you can add 20 pounds in 1 pound increments. So, yes, I can work out without music. I usually do. Music usually distracts me too much. I can't concentrate on anything else when I'm listening to music. [myfanwy65]
music, TV. That's like to-may-to, to-maa-to. The bottom line is that you can only exercise with some form of media around. [vega83]
I can work without music but it's not fun without the music I mean then i get bored for I can't watch T.V properly with exercise so I guess it' music is the only option if I have to exercise for an hour or more. [uniqueme20]
Yeah, I can work out without music too, but it's no fun, you're absolutely right. In fact the other day I was out of batteries for my mp3 player and I didn't feel like exercising at all. [vega83]
I can exercise without music, but prefer to have some kind of distraction. I've been caught doing crunches while watching tv. I've been told that audio books are great for walking. Eventually I might try it. [wiccania]
If listening is what I'd have to do while exercising, then I'd rather be listening to music, although it would be nice to have an audio book, especially if you don't have time to read, that's like two birds with one stone. [vega83]
Yes I can ,I only listen some music on the time I play a computer. I need a peace environment to work. [kineychen]
I didn't say "work", I said "working out" like exercising, although, it is nice to hear music while working too. [vega83]
Yes I can do it without music but it's really nice and smooth when you have music while you exercised, I can be a good mood to do it. [adnes18]
Yeah, it does do wonders for the mood, not to mention, you can exercise so much longer when music is around. [vega83]
I always do my daily jogging with my iPod. It makes jogging less boring, and you dont hear yourself breathing heavily. With music, exercising is fun! [Shareaza]
Yeah, you're right, you don't hear yourself breathing heavily so you don't even notice if you're tired or not. It's a good distraction that way. [vega83]
When I follow a membership of the gym really long time ago and I was just really bored, because there was no music playing, and I was not interesting in that place and I didn't continue to exercise So just recently actually I went out and bought an MP3 player and wow I have been going to the gym a lot more. I run in the mornings a couple miles then workout after work. They are great, it keeps me occupied and also keeps my eyes off of the clock which was my main problem. The music it really helps,I love listening to music while working out. [unisis]
Yeah, that's the main problem, looking at the time while exercising which seems to go so slow when there is no music. [vega83]
yes music helps me to exercise as it keeps me concentrated. music helps me with a lot of things i could not do without it [lols189]
Yeah, me too. It just has a way of keeping you engaged. [vega83]
I am irregular in doing the exercise and work outs, but once when i decide to do it i go full heartedly, and therfore the music's prove to be a distracting ones for me. Might be i may try i future with some lighter background musics, and Some of my friends say that it adds rhythm to the work outs. Is it So? [saivenkaat802003]
Yeah, of course it adds rhythm to the workouts, and if what you are listening to happens to be your favorites then it's even better, because you'll keep singing along or working out along with the beat, and you won't realize that you are tired, or worn out. It works for me. [vega83]
Why not ? Infact, till today I have been doing my exercise without the music only. I agree that Music while improve the ambience of the exercising environment. But I don't feel that Music something compulsory for the exercises. [senthil2k]
Of course, I didn't say it was compulsory, but with the ear phones in my ear, and my favorite tunes playing away, I hardly look at the time, and I can't hear myself breathing heavily as I get tired and that really helps. I wouldn't be able to work out without music at all. [vega83]
i love to do exercise with music.i thinks its better. [wishme_luck]
Yeah, it's definitely better, and more fun too. [vega83]
I couldn't imagine working out without music. If I didn't have it I know I wouldn't be able to make it through the whole thing. Once my battery went dead half way through my workout and it WAS a chore to finish the rest. [starlight81]
Yeah, I'm worse, once my battery finished and I had to chuck the whole workout, just couldn't keep going without the music. [vega83]
No I cannot. You are right music would give you just something enjoyable without it whole work out would be just bored.I am same liek you.I love also cardio and would play my favourites songs and it just motivate me more, to keep going. [laurika]
Yeah, it's like a catalyst, just keeps things going. I can't imagine exercising without music. In fact I don't think I can do it without music at all. [vega83]
No Vega dera,I will ever be able to exercise or work out without music....One reason is I basically love music...Not only that exercising without music will be no fun at all.It will make it dull and take the tempo out of the exercising...While execising, you can set the music to your requirement and this helps to bring a certain rhythm to the movements.... Also turning on music while exercising has a dual effect. It helps to keep you physically as well as mentally fit.... [mithrarao]
Yeah, it's also so much fun, without it I can't exercise at all. [vega83]
I need silence when I do my work out. However I like if music is played in the gym, especially when I am doing my cardio vasculars. [Buchi_bulla]
Yeah, cardio vasculars need music, when I used to do yoga I never listened to music, but I guess that's why I lost interest in it. I need something to keep me going. [vega83]
no i cannot. usually if i exercises in the long run.say 1 hour or 2 hours i need music to make me more relax and divert my attention from the painstaking exercise i am undergoing. yes it really works whe nyou try to exercise hard together with music. [joshboz]
Yeah, it sure does, I know that from my personal experience too. The better the music, the better the workout. [vega83]
Good news that I find another girl who are similar to me in using music to work out.I enjoy music,I need it very much when i feel bad,I sing some resouding songs loudly or the lively and quick rhythm ones. While singing, the bad moods become gone slowly. [psyche2007]
Yeah, music is magical in that way, it can really be a catalyst to our moods, that's why they call it universal, I guess. [vega83]
I agree that music is somewhat important in exercising. because it sets the tempo, the pace of the exercise. like when the music is fast, the exercise steps are rigorous and faster, and when the music is slow, the exercise steps are usually slower and much softer. ^__^ for example, if you're doing yoga, then the music is slow and soothing an calming. if you're doing aerobics, the music is faster and upbeat. ^__^ I seldom exercise, but when I do, I always have my headphones on. I like to be in the beat when stretching muscles and usually, my exercise is dancing so I really need some music. ^__^ [secretbear]
I think music help to work out but I don't need it when I exercise. Maybe because I always have my volleyball practice and I'm used to exercise withot it:P But I think it's a very good thing for running because it helps you to keep a tempo. [Pompon]
i cant work out without my music because if i do i get tired faster!!! i know it sounds stupid but when im exercising earing music i get more motivated!!! [darkaeon]
