Do you usually like to play loud music in your car while you are driving? I don't like that, and I hate it because sometimes that loud music might disturbing me while I want to know if there is ambulance or police car were nearby. Quite the opposite, my cousin usually play loud music in his car, and that is his habit. Whenever I am sitting in his car, I would worry that he might miss the siren of the nearby ambulance or fire truck. I also noticed that other drivers always playing loud music in their cars, especially the youngsters. We might need the law to prohibit this bad habit. Although some places already adopted it, but not widely use yet.

Uh oh...I DO like to play my music very loud when I'm driving although really only when I'm on the freeway doing a long haul. When I drive off the freeway and into towns, I tend to turn it down and in neighborhoods even lower. I agree though that it's quite irritating when youngsters play their music loud in cars but especially in towns and in neighborhoods - its very rude too - shows no consideration for others. I think you have a good point and give me pause for thought [markodoom]
Well, if you considering the quietness of the neighborhood, that should be okay. Some places really require people do not play music while entering a certain area. So, please respect the quietness of that neighborhood. [clorissa123]
I crank my music most of the time. I haven't missed pulling over for an emergency vehicle yet.....why you say? I have my eyes. I can see into my rear view mirror and I can see ahead of me. You do not have to hear the vehicle you have to see it. [mellissa2000]
yes, but with headphone in my ears.. ^ ^ LOL [arek_ngamen]
Are you serious? can you really hear what is going on outside? Or you are just in the passenger side, and you didn't do the actual driving at all? I would never done that, and it is really dangerous. [clorissa123]
Hi Clorissa, I have lots of good and new CD at my BMW X5, so I used to enjoy the loud music when I was at the car particularly while on the highway for the long trips for the purpose of business or leisure I used to enjoy the good sounds , which will gives me good and great mind to do something great. Most of the CD in the car are racks and will gives me good mood when I was ON the tape in the car. But generally heavy or loud sound will affects the capacity of the ears, and most of the medical professional would not advise to hear loud sound in the car or outside, so better to use the head phone or to avoid the more sound and keep in minimum level to concentrate more on the driving. Generally I am suing the head phone with controlled sounds of the music, it will really gives me more pleasure while on the highway to the business trips. Have a nice day. [Binthu]
well, if you are a trip and it is on highway to somewhere far, far away, it won't be matter if you play loud or soft music. I admitted that sometimes it will give you peace of your mind and keep you on driving. I hope that you enjoy them. [clorissa123]
No. I just set just heard. Loud music can disturb the concentration of driving. [hsofyan]
I don't like to disturb other people while driving my car, especially the neighborhood, because I afraid someone will complain, and I hate to hear that. Well, I hope everyone would do the same. [clorissa123]
In town, I usually have my music at a reasonable volume, but when I'm out on country roads, highways, interstates, etc. I do play it loud, when I'm by myself. If someone is with me, I don't play loud music unless the other person is okay with it. [Picquarian]
When I drive alone, I'd prefer the sound of silence. This way I can free my mind and be totally relaxed and concentrate on driving. I do like to hear the news sometimes. However, if my children are in the car with me, they like to listen to loud music. I have to turn down the volume every now and again. I don't understand why people like to listen to loud music. Maybe they don't like to converse with each other. [UmiNoor]
Hello cloriss123 happy I like to listen to my music loud enough for me, but not loud that I can't hear what is going on around me, I agree some people over do this and it needs to stop, I think most young people do this so they can be seen/heard by others, they don't think about what could happen all they want is people to see their cars and stupid things of that nature, their should be a law against this really. Thank you. [kitty42]
It really depends on my mood and the weather. I don't like putting my music on loud with the windows closed...lol. But I do put the music on louder that usual when the weather is nice and I'm in a good mood...Since I live in Florida, that happens a lot...but I don't put it on so loud that I can't hear anything else that is going on around me. [dreamr802]
If there is a song that I really like I will turn it up louder but not to loud. Usually I will keep the radio volume down so that I can hear things around beside see what is going on while I am driving. [happy6162]
not really. i find it a distraction. but i do listen to music especially when I am stuck in traffic. have a great day! [akotalagato]
yes i like listening to loud music while driving and i think its not a good thing but i am addicted to it. [adityalk]
I play music in my car but definitely don't blast my speakers. I care too much about my ears for that. I also don't roll down my windows when I have music playing. I find that driving music isn't good for me when I'm driving because I tend to speed up if the song is fast. I prefer to keep to calm, soothing music (think cafe jazz or blues) while driving so that I don't unwittingly end up speeding. Also, it helps relax me so that I don't freak out so much if someone cuts me off. :) [elenyae]
For me it mainly depends on if I'm alone or not in the car and whether or not I need to think. I love to drive. I drive a car that I love, it's really comfortable and one of my favorite places to be. If there's someone riding with me and we are talking I turn the radio down or off. I've had some rude friends that would try to talk to me on their cell phone with the music cranked. As if I could hear! I would always get irritated and just hang up on them. However, if I'm by myself I like to turn up the volume a bit depending on my mood. If I'm especially angry or really happy I usually turn it up pretty loud and maybe sing along. But there are times when I just like to hear the engine and think about things. I either turn it down very low so that it is just some background noise or completely off. [MissAmie]
This is a very interesting discussion. In my country a law like that hasnt been placed for regular drivers but it has been placed for bus drivers that drive school buses and for public transportation. Now I love to hear music because it calms me down while Im driving. My country suffers from noise pollution, hearing music (in a very good volume, not a high loud volume) has been proven statistically that it helps the driver improve in their skill.. and trust me, to drive here you must have a lot of patience. Being a small country we dont have the big and long freeways that big cities in United States have, we do have special freeway roads that are wide, but the regular city streets are quite narrow. Though I love to hear music, I dont agree with loud BOOM BOOM BOOM over the top music, it isnt just because of ambulance services or cops or anything like that, its also a matter of respect. [indybaty]
I don't listen to the music loudly when inside of a car. In case, there is an emergency vehicle coming up behind me so I have to alert at all times. I do like listening to music in the car but quietly on the radio. [nijolechu]
No,I don't like it neither.Because it is so noisy and I can not focus my attention..It is a big problem.Of course I don't drive ,I just in the car and I feel it is not good.. [qqyyzk469]
No listening loud music specially in the car is more danger your self because it can cause accident so I don't prohibit it. [ebuscat]
Hi there!happy I don't play loud music when I am driving. It also irritates me when I hear vehicles with loud music on. It distracts other drivers on the street. You are right there are no laws about drivers playing loud music while driving but at driving schools it is thought that we have to avoid such habit. It might cause us to have accident if we cannot hear clearly what's going on around us on the street. A car might be honking on us cause we are blocking its way. I went to a driving school so I know this rule. Ciao!wink [iskayz]
i don't drive a car, and we have no car of our own yet, we can't afford of having one now. but when i know how to drive, i would prefer driving with soft music that is pleasing to hear, it's kind of relaxing and keeps me calm while driving. i hate loud and rock music, it's irritating to my ears. [xannebull]
Perhaps I am quite deaf. so I always have my music a little bit louder. My children sitting behind will complain. Yes, I fully agree we should not have it too loud so that we can hear outside sirens. Any way, what I really dislike are those youngsters blaring music out of their cars with the windows open. You can hear the music screaming outside so loud. Imagine, how loud the music is inside the car. [jonjee0203]
I enjoy listening to music, but at an acceptable volume. If the music is too loud, it will be a suffering for me, instead of enjoyment. Usually I will play the music in car at medium amplitude. I totally agree with you that, it's safer to keep the music volume low, so that we can know if there is any strange sound coming from the engine bonnet. Beside, we could still hear the honking or siren from a distance. [cheongyc]
I don't usually drive with loud music myself, only when it's late and I need a way to keep myself awake. I find that with loud music I tend to drive at higher speeds, thus I try not to do it since I intend to live a long life :p I find it quite annoying when people blast their music at full volume and speed down the road as well, but to each his own I guess. [twistedties]
It depends on my mood. When I'm sleepy, I need some upbeat tunes to keep me alive so sometimes I turn the volume up. My friends and I also do this when we're together on roadtrips because we'd normally be singing along to keep the drive interesting and fun. [rg0205]
I especialy like loud music when i am driving.I think that then people notice me as a cool dude or so lol. Just joking.. loud music makes me forget about my worries and all so i pretty often do that [jovanmaj]
Me neiher, I hate listening to loud music while driving. Not only is the siren of police or ambulance unhearable, but also anoy another drivers/pedestrians, especially in the middle of night. I agree if the law should be made upon that 'bad' habit. But as long as it doesn't disturb as, there will be no reason for us to make it 'prohibited'. What do you think ? Just feel free to comment. =) [charlies2805]
i do not like loud music while i am driving and think it is unsafe as it is very distracting to the driver. i like loud music when i am out dancing and sometimes when i am home and just feel like listening to music. [mikeysmom]
I play loud music if it's long drive and if I'm alone on the road. But I don't play it that loud if I'm in a traffic jam... It might intimidate the other drivers or worse, they might think I'm very flashy.... [Tantrums]
I don't listen to it too loud... No there should not be a law to prohibit it, do we really need the government bossing us around on the all details in life? No. [K46620]
Hi clorissa! I don't usually listen to music real loud when I'm driving in town or where there's a lot of traffic. Sometimes I do like to turn it up when I'm on a long drive in the country or on the freeway. I think people should be responsible enough to know whether the music is loud enough that it's distracting to their driving, or to others when they have it so loud you can hear it in the next car. Sometimes when my sister and I are going somewhere together a song will come on that we both really like, so one of us will turn it up. But then we usually wind up turning it back down because we wind up having to yell if we want to talk to each other. :) [silver245]
The youth loves loud music. Adult wants soft music. In our place playing loud music in a car is already prohibited. I do play soft music while in the car. [olepmis]
I tend to agree with you. I do not drive but don't really like people that use their cars as their own private disco. And then there's that safety issue that you mention very well besides. Driving is a privilege and also brings a lot of responsability, it shouldn't be taken as lightly as it is by some or most people, even. [Eisenherz]
