Do You Listen To Music While You Sleep

Do you listen to music while you sleep? Does it ever affect your dreams? One time I was listening to a song about the end of the world while I was sleeping and I had a short dream about the end of the world and there were dead bodies in the river and angels and demons everywhere and stuff. And one time I made a death metal play list and listened to that while I slept and I had a dream that my classmates turned in werewolves and devoured my soul. Now I listen to classical while I sleep to avoid nightmares.

It's weird that you were able to sleep while listening to death metal types of noises (I don't consider shouting as songs). Anyhow, I try to sleep without music on so that I won't make it a habit. It's difficult if you've gotten used to sleeping with music on because if you don't sleep at home the you'd find it very difficult to sleep at all. Not to mention that if ever you did sleep with friends or some type of organization and they don't like songs during sleep, then you'd end up awake the whole night. Don't allow yourself to get used to something that you can't always have because you'd find it difficult to adjust under the circumstance. So, there you go, I don't sleep with music on, but I love listening to the radio. I just try not to make it a habit. =) Just a quick ad though: It's really frustrating, this world financial crisis going on, sad to see a lot of people losing their jobs and having no where else to go whenever there's health concerns or problems. Here's a site that heeds the call for proper self-medication (well I only self medicate when the problem isn't that complicated) it's the site I always go to whenever I feel pain to at least have a reference or advise on what I could do. Made by a doctor or 27years.. it's at www.diagnoseurillness.com you can actually contact them through skype: diagnoseurillness.com or through icall: http://www.icall.com/access_numbers.php with extension: 1286207 or to their site contact list. Yes, I used to go to bed with my Mobile only, i used to switch on the FM and put my headphone on my hear and start hearing the songs. Naturally, in the night times, in the calm atmosphire, the melodious songs played by most of the FM channels are really very admired to hear.. And also i used to change all the FM stations frequently, and change the songs once the song completed in the one stations. I will hear the same till i went to sleep, in some of the days, i will switched off the same in the midnight, when i walk up, after my 2 hours of sleep too.. Hearing the music in the night/calm times in our bed is very intersting one, and also this will not be explain in the words.. Have a good day. [chennai_b07]

I used to listen to Kenny G music to sleep - those days I was having insomnia. It was soothing music, and sometimes it lull me to sleep. Nowadays I don't listen to music per se, but I have the TV on (with the timer set), and just sleep with the background noises. [lazeebee]

if there is any kind of music playing my brain will sing along, even if i never open my mouth lol! since falling asleep is hard for me, i never have music playing..it would just make falling asleep twice as hard. i have fallen asleep on the couch with the tv on..and the subsequent dreams were rather weird. like having a dream where i was back in school but the person sitting next to me in class was SpongeBob Square pants..and he could only laugh and give stupid answers. i woke up to spongebob on the tv..so i figured that explained it lol! [CinderInMySoul]

my daughter cant sleep without her ipod. my son sometimes sleep while listening to music. [Nhey16]

Wow, that is one great feat, being able to listen to that kind of music while sleeping. When I was younger, songs that are familiar to me and put on a volume low enough to make me relax lulls me to sleep. The song would be in whatever genre and I could still sleep. Presently, it works every no and then bu I'd rather sleep without any sound. It makes me more relaxed. [alyssa_c]

nope i dont. i cant sleep with the radio on. I have the tendency to sing with it. so it keeps me awake. [katrhina23]

I have the habit of listening to music before sleeping. Especially melody songs. But i don't think that they would affect my dreams. Happy mylotting. [Raja_Franklin]

I do listen to music when I sleep. Sometimes I don't even dream when I listen to music while sleeping though. I am a fan of metal and I enjoy dreams that are on the scary side and would love to have dreams like you had. They interest me more then normal dreams do for some reason. [jambi462]
ya,it is necessary 4 me to listen music, many kinda music i listen while go to sleep, i smooth and soft music is good choice!! [maddy1325]

I often try, but usually I'm to aware of the music and can't fall asleep while its on. I tend to concentrate on the music and lyrics and this keeps my brain to awake. I usually just get to the point of being really sleepy then turn it off, but I do find it can influence my dreams. Usually the mood of the music is reflected in the dream, but then nothing too literal. Except one time where the dream involved meeting members of a favourite band i had been listening to before sleep. [ghostie]

i listen to music at night but i have only ever fell asleep while the music is still playing once, it didnt affect my dreams or anything but it scared me when i woke up lol i didnt know what it was :P [XRatedViper]

It seldom happens that I fall asleep with music on.I really can't focus and I have the needs to sing along.I only fall asleep with music when I'm very tired and really don't care about any background noise. Also,I try to sleep only at night and I keep my music on my PC and the PC fan really annoys me as it's pretty loud. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. [zak_ro_gl]

ya,when we sleeping we can get automatically old memories its depending upon music .some people are trying to listen mass music so, in that time they get evil memories like me .but every one trying good sleep at night. [varuninfolance]

Everyday before sleeping, I always set up my music from handphone. I like WESTLIFE so much. and while i was dreaming, i usually encountered them. Then doing something special with them. [Bryan_Haykal]

Absolutely yes, i usually hear some of the melodious songs while I go to bed for sleeping...... sometimes even I don't switch off my Ipod, I just sleep........ as it is...... [arunmails]

In my opinion,it´s abit strange that you can listen to music when you are sleeping. I don´t think that you hear much of it. But I think music makes it easier to fall alseep [ennasus59]

Sometimes I do leave the music playing when going to bed. It helps to relax and the sleep is usually better as well. I don't normally remember my dreams so I cannot comment whether the music during sleep affects dreams or not. My choice of sleep-music is soft classical or jazz, preferrably instrumental. Lyrics distract me when I'm trying to relax and forget everything. Also I take care to set the volume low enough to not disturb my and my GF's sleep (she btw likes smooth background music as well during the night). [matipp]

i do listen to music just like you. i also often fall into sleep without closing my mp3 player and its keep on running while i sleep. i do have dreams but not connected to songs that i hear during my sleep. [mnr367]

Yes,I do listen to music while I sleep otherwise I don't get sleep, but I don't get dreams about it.I generally listen to Korean Rnb when I sleep,my advice to you would be to listen to romantic songs when you sleep and you will hope the night never ends. [tohoshinki]

Oh my what music do you always listen it was so scary. Yes I am listening to music before to sleep until I came to fall asleep. The music of course are sweet and love songs. I love music and I also sing their songs even I am not a singer artist. Try to listen to other kind of music which make your dreams good. Avoid that kind of music that made you dream nightmare and pray before sleep.happy [mods196621]

lol you think too much while 1/2 sleep 1/2 listening to the music...i listen to Rock,Ballad,R&B,Reggae,Love song and sometimes instrumental when sleep or radio... [genyaarikado]

Yes,from time to time, when lost sleep,i listen music so could to sleep.of course you should listen the light music in order to sleep well,if you listen rock music,i think you will too excited to sleep. [licisheng508]

I too have the habit of hearing music while sleeping.i heard that we can have a peaceful sleep if we hear melodious music before sleep. Its far more better if we hear comedies which helps you to avoid bad dreams. [rushtovelk]

The only music I listen when I go to bed is my sound spa. It has sounds of the ocean, summer nights, rain rainforest, thunder and waterfall. The sounds make me fall to sleep fast. My favorite sound is the rain. [babystar1]

yes i would play songs on my mobile before i fall asleep i think it keeps on playing until the playlist is over or battery which ever ends first..! [lalu_202001]

i always listen to music when im sleeping; i find classical/instrumental music, or jazz music to be the most relaxing so that is what i put on when i go to sleep. I used to put on a rock station, but switched to classical because i wouldnt have a good sleep with Hard Rock Music somehow.. [lostfan01]

I can't listen to music and sleep - or TV or anything else. I'm one of those odd individuals who require absolute quiet to sleep. I even sleep with ear plugs to drown out sound from my pets. Its a pain, but thats just me. LOL [TessWhite]

I think the type of music really affects your dreams because although you are sleeping, the song and lyrics are still being heard by your ears and being processed by your brain. So if you listen to rock music with morbid lyrics, I think it is then interpreted in your dreams. It's nice to listen to music while sleeping especially mellow ones so that you will have a lovely dream.... [cfmedrano]

I used to listen to music in my mp3 when I'm going to sleep but still it doesn't affect my dreams. Music is the one who make me sleep specially if its a love song. [19ninoy68]

No, I don't listen to music while i sleep.I have to sleep in complete darkness and complete silence. happy mylotting [jackiew]

I don't listen to music while I sleep anymore, but used to all the time when I was younger, probably from the time I was 10 or 12 until I was 16 or so. I don't remember ever having dreams that were related to the song that was playing, but I never listened to songs that were disturbing, I always listened to either country or modern pop/rock. Now, if anything, I fall asleep with the TV on. I prefer this now because if I have trouble sleeping, then I just watch whatever is on the TV when I wake up, lol. [tklich]

I used to listen to music while I slept, and though it never actually affected my dream state, it did affect my waking state. I would wake up and think there was someone in my room and totally freak out. I remember a song from a soundtrack that had whispering on it and I was terrified that there were two people in my room speaking to each other, trying not to wake me up. I then realized what was going on and turned off the stereo pronto, but had an extremely difficult time going back to sleep. Now I can't listen to music as I sleep, because I follow any piece of music I've memorized to the point where I can't bring myself to sleep because I'm too focused on following each note. It's very annoying, so I just don't listen to music while I'm trying to sleep since I've got enough problems with sleep. :) [sweeneyallanburton]

You can do so, but I don't think it is a good way. To you, it may mean a dream, but what about your partner: your wife or husband. He or she will have a different feeling. You must get some hints from others, since originally, you don't need that to fall asleep in your childhood. Anyway, it is your own business. It is ok if it does not disturb others. [dozhou]

well it depends on the situations wid me ,like if i m very tired i would just switch on ma ipod and lie down this relaxes me nd releases all the stress .if i m tired i love slow music nd if i too stressed out or may be in a bad mood sometimes then i prefer some really fast noisy nd loud music nd while sleeping some times i even use a software which produces some kinda natural musical sounds like birds singing ,flowing water as if u r on a beach nd it completely relaxex ma brain nd gives me a nice sleep. Ron [raunak12645]

hey, well i do listen to music..but, i never listen to deadly songs like the one you did..gosh, it is scary though! Smiley, [smiley83]

I donnot listen to music while my sleep.Because i am a student and i live in dormitory. The most major is listen to music use earphones hurtfuf to my ears.So i usually donnot listen to music. [septemberxue]

yes sometimes it's nice sleeping while listening to music but should be sweet music or balads provided with beautiful lyrics and must be the tune is just like a whispher to your ears. Just like saying lullabyes turned babies to sleep... [bing28]

Yes, I do listen to music while going to sleep, music gives me peace of mind and a very sound sleep. I listen to FM station who plays mellow music and ballad, so while drifting to sleep the music plays in the background giving me a more relaxed environment. Now that christmas season is around the corner, I have to wake up at 4:00am to change the FM dial which play christmas song. Music gives me relief from busy schedule, so when I return home and about to sleep, I habitually turn on my FM radio to listen to music. I noticed that I have a good sleep when I listen to music and I easily drifted to sleep. No, I don't have nightmares when listening to music but I experienced also that whatever last music I listened before sleeping sometimes influenced my dreams. [jlamela]

I can't listen to music while I sleep. I can fall asleep to it, if it's not to loud. I can't stay asleep when there is music on. I used to be able to, but not anymore. I don't know why though. [cortney09]

no, i don't. have to have peace & quiet to sleep. if the music was causing such awful nightmares i think it was time to cahnge music.lol [ANTIQUELADY]

I listen to music while asleep sometimes especially if I'm having difficulty sleeping. Sometimes I to the radio, sometimes in my iPod. I sleep more easily with music in my ear. I don't think it really affects my dreams. [angiemabute]

Yeah, I have listened to music while sleeping, but when i woke up the next day my mp3 player was dead (lol). I mostly listen to J-rock music, and screamo! And I dont know if they affected my dreams, cuz i never remember them haha.. I haven't had any dreams that i remember having while listening to music :\ [chibiXpudding]

Whatever works! I listen to light classical or new age when I have trouble sleeping and really need to get some serious shut eye. I have severe depression and so,from time to time, I really get into a problem time. I am lucky to have CableOne and have alot of music options on their special listening.(I do love my cable.) Work through those nightmares. Write in a journal. The mind is extraordinary! Never under estimate it. [celticeagle]

HaHa i enjoyed reading this post of yours.Do you know what dreams are?Dreams are nothing but reflections of certain activities that one has done throughout the day or some other day.The dreamworld is as real as the waking world but the only thing is that we have no control over what we see in it.If we see a horror movie before going to bed then our subconcious mind takes over and starts Weaving its own story and script and we as the actor get to play a different part in it. So we may start seeing demons or ghosts or ghouls or nightmarish creatures in our dreams. If we see a good movie or listen to soft or soothing music then we may get pleasant dreams. It is always better when you are going to sleep to think of God and pray to Him to make your sleep as dreamless as possible. I usually do not listen to any music but i go to sleep after watching television. However i always pray to God before falling asleep and to protect me throughout the night.I do get dreams but they don`t bother me. [veejay19]

It's other way around..i sleep when i am listening to music.. [kvnnashty]

When I do, which is fairly often, I have on a music channel on TV that plays new age stuff (Music Choice, their "Soundscape" Channel). Verrrry relaxing. I rarely have bad dreams, though my dreams are & always HAVE been really WEIRD. I'll stack mine up against ANYONE"S to prove it, too! LOL! Sometimes I fall asleep when the TV's on (often Fox News). Then my dreams tend to be even stranger, still, seldom BAD. When I DO have nightmares, they're real humdingers. Like the one I had a little before 9/11, in which I dreamed a building fell on me, & there were tanks--HUGE ones, bigger than the ones we have NOW--filling the streets, & the military controlled EVERYONE. Actually, that's more like a "normal" dream, in that it had a definite sequence of logical events. _I_ tend to run a lot more to the odd side than that, such as when I'm not ME, but someone or some THING different. Once, I was a pair of shoes. In a different (& prophetic) dream, I was an abstract (but self-aware) concept; I WAS history. And so it goes.... Maggiepie [Maggiepie]

I do listen to music while I sleep. Partially to block out my husband's snoring. I usually put in some type of meditative music. Something tranquil and soothing. It helps me to relax. I do see where the type of music you listen to and your subconcious mind could affect your dreams. Our imaginations are very active and when we are sleeping we would be more succeptable. I think I'll stick with something relaxing. [Carolyn63]

No, I don't. I'd rather have a quiet surrounding while I sleep or try to sleep. [aprilten]

I used to listen to music while I would sleep and I can't remember if it had any bearing on the dreams I had that night. My tastes in music is so varied so I could listen to anything from rock to classical music. There are times when I would just leave the TV on a favorite show and I think the dialogue could affect the dreams I would have that night. I know when I want to clear my mind, I don't have anything on at all. Sometimes the quiet helps me sleep better but last night I had nothing on and I had a dream that was very vivid and I didn't like that dream at all. [0kgirl]

When I was little, I couldn't sleep without listening to music. My favorite CD was the Spirit soundtrack, so I always fell asleep to that. Sometimes I used to have dreams about Horses (the soundtrack was all about horses...or, well, the movie was). I think it's because when you're listening to music before you sleep, you really listen to the lyrics because there's nothing else to do but that (you can't really get up and dance to the music). So the words really connect with you, and when you finally fall asleep, you're still thinking about the song, and that's why you have those dreams. [kvnnashty]
