I myself prefer speakers when I need to know what's going on around me, which is like all the time. Headphones block out too much sound if I'm being a paranoid nerd. Headphones also have great sound because they block out so much sound. Speakers on the other hand can get bigger and bigger and sound better and better. And they allow more than just you to hear the music, which is never good if your neighbor doesn't like your choice in genre. What is your preference?

I prefer headphones when I'm in my home, but I'm at my college(hostel) I prefer speakers. Everyone in the hostel like to hear songs so it ain't going to be a big nuisance, that is not the case at my home. :) [Dinu024]

Personally i want speakers because i leave the computer on , while i am listening music online or in the songs i have in the play list. I am just living alone here and neighbors are not that near so i could listen to the volume i wanted without disturbing them.happy [glesil_00]
I really like a set of good 18 inch subs pounding out the beat...when I feel that bass drum kick me in the chest, it is like a little piece of heaven... But then, at times, I like the spatial dimension of listening to headphones...hearing some of the instruments traveling left to right, right to left through the middle of my brain is pretty cool. But all in all, I prefer speakers. And LOTS of amps. In fact, one amp for the highs, one for the mids, one for the lows and one for EACH sub just about gives me a musical orgasm... I also prefer speaker. Headphone makes my ear aching when I am using it to long. So I'd rather choose to use speaker. You can hear loud and clear sounds from that and it is comfortable to use. No need to carry if you want to roam around your house. It is great. [julbau18]
It depends where I am as to which I prefer. If I'm in my house, than I will listen to my music through speakers. If I'm out somewhere or sitting on the bus or the train, then obviously I would have to use headphones. But I really like using headphones. There's just something that I like about carrying out everyday tasks without all the noise, and all I can hear is my music. [housemd]
I prefer speakers more than headphones. Actually with a speaker on we can carry on with our chores but on the other hand with headphones it is a little clumsy to work although some people enjoy it. But we should make sure that our enjoyment to listen to music or anything else in the speaker does not become a hindrance to anyone else around. [yogambal_64]
I definitely prefer headphones. When I use headphones, l feel like I am in my own little world and I can enjoy anything I want to listen to as loud or as soft as I want. When I use speakers, I don't feel like I get quite the dramatic effect like I do with earphones. It seems more personal with headphones. [britster246]

It really depends...I prefer headphones when I am outside or there are many people around. I do respect them that I don't want them to be bothered by the sound I will create. Of course, I will not know if they like it or not. When I am alone in my room, I prefer to use speaker. I always use speakers. First of all, the headphones and earphones can damage your ear drums. The vibration of the music is too strong and concentrated. Not to mention is is played very close to your ear. That concentrated sound wave can damage your hearing and in the long term, that is not good. Although it is convenient, I usually don't listen to music on the streets, I like talking with people more, or I will just bring a book to read. I think that the quality doesn't really matter to me. Also, I do not play music loudly from my speakers, so my neighbours don't even know what I'm doing. Speakers are better for me, since I can hear everything else that's around me. Generally, I still like speakers more than headphones. [brianwade]

I prefer listening to my music with a surround sound system. My brother's room was the best place to listen to music. I had Kiss or Offspring blasting while I was in his room. Now that's how you're suppose to listen to music. [unclebubs15]
I find that it depends on the headphones on which will give the better sound. I have an expensive set of headphones that give a much better sound that the speakers, but I also have a cheaper set that don't. speakers, theres really no other way. a serious 5.1 stereo system really rocks. i find that you have to spend $100 just for a decent pair of headphone. i certainly doing like my ears being cooked, so speakers are the best way to go for me. [KupoSin]
Speakers for sure:) Headphones are good if I am listening to something I have recorded looking for mistakes, etc... but I don't like the feeling of one of my senses being cut off from what is around me. definately like speakers for the same reason so i can hear whats going on, but a really great pair of headphones that make the music pop are a must when on the go. but i must admit people have walked up on me and i didnt even know it due to them being noise canceling so that is a draw back. It really depends for me. If i am inside the car driving alone, then definitely i would prefer the speakers. I like my stereo playing to the top of its volume as i drive long distance. This actually keeps me from getting sleepy. Then, if i am in school, i would have no other choice but to use the headphones so as not to bother the other people. I like the closeness of the music to my ears when using the headphones. I really am a lover of music, so i have both speakers and headphones. I think it really depends to the usage. When i am at home, i use the speakers to turn the music to a comfortable level where it will not disturb the neighbors.
