Obviously my choice wouldn't be country music because I love it so much. I am sure there will be a lot of people who will say "ban country music"...lol...but everyone has their opinion, likes and dislikes.
I would definitely ban what I think is called "gangsta rap". I don't even call that music! All it is is some kids swearing and talking bad about women, politics, police, parents, religion and killing and everything else that is good. Of course they also have to put in all that good talk about sex which is always an added bonus.
Is there a type of music that you positively hate and would love to never have to hear again?

responses and comments:
Rap, Rap Rap Rap I think it would be the rap hip hop type of music that I can't stand--yeah gangsta rap specifically that's the word I was looking for. But then I know there are many that would want to ban Country music....Id be the first to veto this one...country music is my favorite, Can't mess with country to many fans would riot. mooch [oneandonemakesix]
For real! And you don't want to mess with no rednecks either...lol... [ctrymuziklvr]
Oh I would never ban country music but and I don't know the difference between rap and gangster rap but the only music I cant stand is rap music , I hate the sound and I hate the movement of the singers, I just don't think it is singing at all.... [lilaclady]
Gangsta rap is the likes of 50 cent, and all the bullsh*t you hear polluting the radiowaves, you need to look beyond this to really appreciate rap, the lyricism side of rap, the polictically conscience rappers such as Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Nas, De La Soul, The Roots. Most rappers are excellent at poetry aswel check out Tupac's 'A Rose That Grew From Concerete' a book with quite a lot of Tupac personal published poetry. [zeemusicuk]
Ya i wish that i get such power first i'l band Micheal jackson's song. He must disappear from music chart, he must be forgotten. I hate when he appears on T.V. i just switch off the T.V or change the channel. But my bad luck my big brother loves his/her songs i mean micheal jackson's song he he he. I said his/her because..........! Hope you got it... [deep_enjoy]
MJ basically shaped pop music and music today - he is a pioneer. An amazing performer and a true legend, he is an inspiration to most current artists today that look up too him. Your judgement of music should have nothing to do with the media coverage of his life or the way he acts. [zeemusicuk]
I feel pretty much as you do about the "gangsta rap" music, ctry. To me it is inflammatory and sends the wrong message to the young impressionable kids that like it so much. As you know, I am also a big fan of country music. I can tolerate almost anything because I am a true music lover. My tastes run the gamut from classical to R&B. [worldwise1]
I didn't realize you also liked country! WTG! I also will listen to just about anything that sounds good. As long as it SOUNDS GOOD! [ctrymuziklvr]
well, I don't believe in censorship--but if I could somehow inspire people to deliver more positive messages... and then voluntarily do away with "gansta' rap" , and for that matter any other vulgar, violent,or sexist language. dr... [DavidReedy]
Who can say, I must admit some ignorance. I would only guess it's a cultural indentification thing. But, educated, particularly black scholars, would have their youth stop calling themselves that... Much of what is unpopular in our society is propagated by our media. [DavidReedy]
Country music!! Actually I'm gonna be all lame and say that I'm a huge music fan and general "art" fan that I don't think anyone should ever been banned from expressing themselves in whatever way they feel fit. If you wanna sing punk rock, country or gospel. If you want to beat on drums, play the tuba or rock the piano. Whatever it is that you want to do I don't think you should ever be stopped from doing it. If I had to say one though, Opera comes to mind first, because they are loud and I can't understand a word they say. [raychill]
well obviously it's not like i really want opera banned or anything. it was a quick decision. I whole heartedly agree nothing should be banned. [raychill]
Hip hop!! And rap. I just hate the beating of them. And he lyrics are horrible. [Daelin]
I don't think hip hop is as bad as rap is. In fact sometimes I find it amusing! [ctrymuziklvr]
Sad part is I grew up with the brainwashed numbskull crowd of "yea gangstar rapz, booz country music!!!". Then I actually listened to some country music and found a lot of it inspiring, life relating and just plain awesome. I bet if some youth actually listened to some of the best recent hits maybe they'd realize something (yea yea... dream on Pro... i know). On the other hand I found gangsta rap more offensive, more vitriolic, more violent and counterproductive. I think my last straw with gangsta rap was the "read a f**k book video". Its on youtube and you can google it. But yea, its just wrong on so many levels. Unfortunately I believe in and uphold the 1st amendment so I can't really ban it. Quite a situation. [theprogamer]
"My mistakes are no more than yours/Just because I'm a woman." "Our D - I -V - O - R - C - E will be final today..." Country really does kick and you learn stuff from it. It is quite involving to the listener. [nickventere]
Well, I must admit, I am not a real country music fan, though there are a few songs that I like. But you got that right about the gangsta-rap-hip-hop what ever you want to call it noise. I unfortunately work with a bunch of people who only listen to that..and at a loud volume. The other day someone asked me if I liked it....and I said the sound of my screaming due to hot knitting needles in my eyes would be preferable. That noise is nasty. [Debs_place]
Debs, you put it precisely right. It is some kind of organised noise that is mixed with profanities that you might not have even heard of or imagined! Unfortunately, it is now a religion with a lot of misguided disciples! [nickventere]
I like country. I like most music. But you have named the one I cannot stand. I don't see what good rapping about all these negative and disgusting things accomplish, except foster hate and discontent. [AmbiePam]
Well going through my dad's and older cousins old records albums, rap turned sour around 1991. It was calmer and actually understandable, but that was from years, no decades ago ><. [Puts on rapper's delight]. Yea and the stories were different. Going to a friends house, the guy cant cook and you end up having to stomach it, thats one of the "old rap" stories. Compare that to what's being played nowadays. [theprogamer]
I like those music which calms my heart and hate those which has no tunes, no voice only some bands and shouting in microphones. These music are disgusting. [ibsnet]
I personally don't know how they can even call that music do you? [ctrymuziklvr]
Wow! we totally agree when it comes to music. I love country music too, and guess what, I hate discriminating rap music. I would'nt even wanna call it music, for me it's noice. I even created a discussion here in mylot about rap music. I would like you to read it and tell me what you think of it. I would appreciate a comment too... Here's the link; www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1204990.aspx [Ricko82]
I think you've got the right idea....great discussion. [ctrymuziklvr]
Hi, i too would ban all kind of music that is noise to the ears, more than music and that includes all the raps and the rocks etc, which i feel are just sheer noise and nothing more. I feel music shoud be enjoyed, which should be soft, and soothing to the ears and mind. It should give us peace of mind as that is why we want to hear it too isnt it? I wonder how people even manage to hear such loud music and dance with it. I guess each person to their own and each one has their own choices, likes and dislikes. I also love conuntry music, but would change to other kinds of music as well after a while, i like all kinds, as long as they are soft, soothing , heart rendering music. [vinzen]
Thanks for replying. Yes, you are right, at times we do like to go all out and listen to all kinds of crazy, loud blaring music too, but for me thats just once in a while, if am given a choice, i would like to listent o soft, instrumental or soothing kind of music. Each one to their own personal choices i guess. [vinzen]
I dont think people should ban any sort of music genre only because he/she does not like it. Music is somethin that was not CREATED by man. CREATED BY NATURE ITSELF, it went through various changes through the ages where people added and deduced the music created by NATURE. Whatever be the type, if you 'listen', you'll find some sort of feeling inside you: good or bad. And thats the essense of music. So no talk about banning... [AryanIndia]
I also don't like rap music, hiphop and rnb. I dunno, but for me these types of music doesn't make sense to me. Most of the times, all they make are songs about sex and nonsense!LoL Rap is not music, indeed!;) I think they just put whatever words that pops out of their mouth, then put it on music. I can't see any note on that music also, just common beats that are mostly copied from original songs. [raijin]
I hate gangsta rap, country music, and emo/whine rock almost equally, but if I could get one banned, I'd definitely pick whine rock. It's not because I hate it more, it's just because the music club at school plays it over the public announcements system before classes and during recess, so I'm basically being forced to listen to that rubbish every day. [Thirteenth]
i would also like to ban gangsta rap. i don't think it is horrible music but i was so upset with my children when they came home singing "loosen up my buttons baby". i have 2 girls and i told them i never ever want to hear them singing that song again and they were not allowed to listen to that. i told them that ladies do not speak that way. [4MYGIRLS]
If I would have the power to ban the specific type of music then I would ban hard rock music. I don't like hard rock as it is very hard on your ears. This is very different type of music and this is not loved by everyone. This is a very different type of music and I have listened to it couple of times but instead of relaxing the mind it has created disturbance in the brain. Have a good day. [imrajesh]
I like everykind of music. My less favorite kind of music is country, but there is some artist that sing country that I like so much like Carrie Underwood or the Dixie Chicks. It,s the same thing for example with rap or gansta rap. I like rap but the style in rap I like the less, is gansta,s rap, but there is some artist that I like some of their song. 2pac for example was making gansta rap, but the old school gansta's rap is not that bad. He's one of the greatest rapper of all time. So I would not ban any kind of music.. or maybe if I really think about it, I could live without Techno or House music :P [beyonce03]
Well I have to say with all my heart what my answer is, but before I do, please don't hate me. I know there are millions upon millions of fans of this type of music that are going to want to throw some rather large rocks at me, but I have to honest. This type of music can cause sever pain to my brain upon hearing it. I mean while I have not yet gone into convulsions from it, I can only credit that to the fact I can run so darn fast out of ear shot. So to answer your question I have say... polka!! [sunshinecup]
those kind of music that Marlin Manson does I don't get him as a person not to mention his music [Nahara]
Not to mention his FACE...lol... [ctrymuziklvr]
I would never ban any type of music. I don't like a lot of music, but SOMEONE out there does, so why would I ban it? I don't believe in censorship. [mkirby624]
I agree with you to a point. Maybe using the word "ban" was the wrong way to say this. There is some music that just shouldn't be played on the radio and tv for young minds to be listening to. [ctrymuziklvr]
My choice would be death rock or goth rock. This way my daughter might listen to something I can understand instead of one big noise. [Vixx06]
While I don't care for some types of what some people call music, I don't think I would ever agree to ban any certain type. After all, with our freedom comes freedom of expression. Even though I see no point in "gangsta rap", those that make it and listen to it have every right to do so. There are some decent rap artists, such as Kanye West and RUN DMC. While Eminem sometimes is controversial, he does rap about issues of the day and does have some very intersting lyrics in some of his music. Personally, I very rarely listen to rap music. Most of it gives me a headache! I like music with a great melody and meaningful lyrics. I love country, rock and roll, easy listening and a few heavy metal bands. If I am listening to a radio station and I don't like what I am hearing, I have my own form of censorship....changing the station! PEACE [fpd1955]
I'd have a problem in banning a type of music. lol Ok, number one onmy list would be Hard Rock. The problem is, I love the bass and "talking" lead guitar, and a bit of the drums and I detest most of the lyrics. Think of it, I love Van Halen, but I don't subscribe to some of their lyrics. Take "Running with eh Devil" for instance. Gangsta rap would be the next thing. However, I have some reservations. Many times, there is some very important message and indeed wisdom and awareness in most of their lyrics, but that is put by swear words. And some artists actually advocate for violence and sexism. In the end, I can't decide on which type of music to ban. The easiest would be which artist of song to ban, not an entire genre of music! That would be a very hard job to execute! [nickventere]
Ban the rap and hip hop music. PEriod. I hate listening to that junk and when I pass a car or a car psses me and the music is so loud MY car vibrates, it's time to outlaw it. I do love country music, so I'd never ban it. [Sacrificialclam]
I wouldn't band any music style, but I would ban lyrics like hoes, bittches, suicide, etc. Lyrics that degrade people would be my top choices. [zoesden]
I wouldn't ban any kind of music, just because I don't like it.. but since you posed the question, If I had the power I would ban music that demeans women and is full of 4 letter words. I know there is a market for that and people do like it, but I don't. I don't like all that punk stuff, or the goth stuff screaming in your face about death... no offense.. I just don't like it. But in reality, I would never want to ban anyone's expression of themselves in music.. even if I don't like it I would never want to take something away from someone that likes that stuff. [OreoCookie3]
I would ban gospel music and any other religious music that is out there like christian rock. [whywiki]
I don't think I would want to ban any music. What may not be music to my ears may be music to someone else's ears. I am old and like old music even country. I do have some songs that Billy Ray done Achy breaky heart that is my all time favorite. But then I do love some of Tina Turners music too especially Private dancer. But then I do like religious songs. Then there is some of the 50's music I just think it would be a shame to lose. I don't listen to rap but my nephew dose and if that is what someone likes not my place to say we don't need it. Then again there is a lot of classical music I love to listen too when I am trying to think and just need my time alone. Then there is the 80's music Phil Collins I just couldn't think of ever losing these types of music. But then again these types of music might not appeal to many I wouldn't want someone to say I couldn't listen to it cause they don't like my types of music. So more power to all kinds of music and rap whether I like it or not it is liked by many or it wouldn't still be around. I too love some country music. I don't like any song that talks about someone leaving someone. I don't like tear jerker songs from any music except religion. Great post though Ctrymuziklvr. [bwrattybaby]
*ducks and covers head* Sorry, but I would be banning country music! I literally can't stand to hear it. Something about the twang sends chills up my spine...very much like someone raking their fingernails up a blackboard! Hubby is the same way about country music. I can't tell you how many times we have entered a restaurant, only to turn around and leave because it had country music blaring. I actually don't like rap either, but will listen to it over country! [crazynurse]
