When you get a new CD do you listen to it just once and put it away? I listen to it over and over again. This helps me to memorize the lyrics. I enjoy singing along with the songs of my favorite artists. One in particular that I have been listening to is The Long Way Home, by the Dixie Chicks. So many of the songs on this CD have become favorites. They words of the songs take on special meaning to me.

I haven't bought any cd's in awhile but when i do,it drives my dad nuts cause i listen to it over and over again. I can't help myself.lol [66jerseygirl]
sure...I love music, and so do my daughters. I don't know what's wrong with my stereo system right now, but we love cds. I've played many of them over and over again! [mytwo_daughters]
oh yes when I get a new Cd I have to listen to it many times before I put it away. In fact on the first time around I sometimes don't even like the new CD I have to play it a 2 or 3 times before I get used to it . The I always find a favorite song and I have to hear that again and again , and I like to try to learn the words so I can sing it to myself to share the words with someone else. The last new CD I bought was gospel music , and there was this one song that just made me cry every time I listened to it . It is just so beautiful . [bigpinkmomma]
oh I am a music addicted..so whenever I buy a new Cd I took my time to familiarise with the music and the songs..I generally listen to it in my car because I spend much time driving and so this is the first place where I listen to all new music and then I listen to it again if I liked it or I put it aside and listen to it after a bit..in order to educate my ears to the new songs and kind of music. Sometimes you need time to appreciate new songs..other times they become part of your life and soul at once..and as you said, I like singing ..of course under my breath!!! or I sing aloud when I am alone..that it is at home, or while having a shower or when driving..it is so powerful singing aloud your favourite song when you are stuck in a traffic jam..time passes by and you avoid getting destroyed by all that awful traffic!!! [maribea]
I tend to keep repeating the cd over and over again when I first get it. I all but wear it out...lol Then I have my favorites that I play all the time too. I've been listening to Bog Seger lately. I love Turn the Page... [mari61960]
Oh great! Now I have the song running through my mind. Years ago I had an album by Bob Seger and my exhusband and his friend played it all day long. Now, I like Bob Seger, but to hear it over and over, day in and day out was a bit much! I accidentally lost the album. Now that many years have passed by, I am ready to get a new one. I don't do that now, but used to. Mainly in my teens & twenties. I would listen to a new song(record in those days) & play it over & over. I would sing along with it, very loudly if no one was home. I would sit in my bedroom, with the record player going full volume, & sing, sing & song. So you go for it.. sing along with those songs & feel free.... [jennybianca]
I haven't bought a new cd in a long time. But I have been known to play it over and over. When I was younger I liked the Bay City Rollers and I listened to their songs over and over until my mother almost went insane.lol. Sometimes now I cheat and find the lyrics online. [brendalee]
I'm terrible about listening to them over and over. I drive my kids crazy, but I like to learn the lyrics too so that I can sing along, and eventually sing many of the songs at karaoke if I really like them. [kelly60]
of course i would play it the whole day. yes the whole day. i wouldn't buy an expensive item if i dont really mean of buying and wantign them. when i bought my very first CD before, i played it everyday, as in over and over again. there was a time that we traveled to somewhere for like over and hour and i put the CD on. the driver who doesnt like the genre of my music gets to like them after all i played it over and over again while hes driving. hehe.. [MGjhaud]
I usually don't get a cd unless I am planning on listening to it a bunch. So I listen to it over and over. Sometimes the first time I hear a song I don't care for it but it grows on me, and other times I love the song the first time I hear it. But I listen to it over and over to learn the lyrics also. The one I am listening to now is Tim Mcgraw his new cd. It has a remake of "Suspicions" on it I love and another song called "The River and Me". I have heard the Dixie Chicks "the long way home" is a good cd. I may look into purchasing that if I ever get some extra money. [UDDERONES]
hey just don't keep on listening it may spoil ur ears.do u know this??using earphones and listening music always will increase the bacteria in ur ears by around 3000times faster.so take care. [bhargavjanjam]
Oh all of us here, hubby, the girls and me will play our CDs day and night. All of us rather liten to music than watch TV or anything else. I play mine until I am sick of it then I switch to something else for a while. Right now I am back to Bonnie Raitt, Luck of the Draw. I am on day three listening to that one. [sunshinecup]
Ihave that Dixie Chicks cd, too, and it is great! I also bought The Traveling Wilburys Collection which is a 20th Anniversary edition. I just love my cd's! I do avoid playing them over and over as I am worried it will make me too familiar with them and get a bit bored. The best place for me to play them is in the car cd player when I am travelling for work as it passes many a boring, weary mile. I find I can recall word for word the lyrics of songs from 40-50 years ago! [Noot54]
i listen to my Craig David CD constantly. Its the only things that you can hear in my car [hiddenball2]
That's so weird that you mentioned Taking The Long Way by the Dixie Chicks because that is the CD I was thinking of as I read your discussion! My mom bought me that CD for Christmas and it quickly became one of my favorites. I listen to it all the time. In fact, I was just listening to it in the car yesterday. What's your favorite song on the album? [zuri25]
Yes I listen to my CDS over and over again. I don't buy cds anymore because I have a computer now to download music. I listen to my songs over and over again because I like it. Sometimes when I listen to my cd I listen to it once and move on to another. [sweetangel88]
I am alot like you. I listen to it over and over again. Than some more. It will be the cd I listen to for the next month or so til I learn all the words and get tired of it. Unless it is Kid Rock. Than I never get tired of listening to him sing...yummy! [rusty2rusty]
I am with you on this one. I listen to it over and over again. The problem is I listen to it so much that I actually start to get sick of the songs. I guess the rule is moderation like anything else. :) cheers, [golfproo]
yes i also do the same. i also listem my new cds again and again [shv12jar]
I always listen to new CDs for at least a week. I currently purchased T.I.'s new CD and its all I've listened to since I got it. [belhaven14]
I am terrible about doing that! I play the same cd so many times my husband is ready to go insane. My daughters and I love it though because we are able to sing along. After a while I move on to another cd but I love the fact that I know so many of my cd's well. [loved1]
Yeah, I will listen to it over and over again until the wife ejects it from the CD player. I am especially prone to doing it if the album matches the mood of the piece of writing that I am working on. Lately, it has been Ok Go which I have played for four hours straight. [morgandrake]
When I get a new album I play it over and over again (unless I don't like it). It's fun memorizing the lyrics to songs, I sing as I play the song sometimes too. An artist named Akon (he's a hip-hop artist) has wonderful songs (in my oppinion). I like quite a few songs by Akon, like Smack That, Don't Matter, and much more. [bballpro]
I listen to my cds over and over again as well. I listen to the same cd in my car for a week and then switch to another one. I enjoy singing along as well, though not with other people around. LOL I never get tired of listening to the various cds that I have. Thanks for reminding me as I should take some music cds with me on my vacation. [kgwat70]
When I hear a new song and if I like it, then I will keep listening to it again and again, until I get tired. I just love to try with the new songs and experiment them a lot. Im a fan of ARRahman, so I always love to listen to the new songs of him, whenever it gets released. [senthil2k]
I play it and play it and play it- I learn the words to the other songs that I don't know – and then I get so SICK of it- I put it away- sometimes I don't listen again for a month- Gretchen Wilson's Redneck woman cd—I still can't stand to listen to it- My daughter played it out! [KrisNY]
Lol, I haven't listened to my Gretchen CD in a long time, but man did I ever when I first bought it. [howellslj]
I always listen to a new CD over and over, and make a copy to take in the car to listen too. I play electric bass, so I'm always trying to learn the bass parts. [KarenO52]
I love the Dixie Chicks and recently got 3 CDs of theirs. I've listened to all three in a row but not over and over. Like my reading, I'm happier with change. I cannot read the same genre all the time and I like to vary my listening pleasure as well. [MsTickle]
I haven't bought a cd for myself in a long long time. I have a whole cd case full of cd's and I rarely listen to them. I need to start because I have some good songs! haha My daughter is always asking to listen to them and I say if you be super careful and don't scratch them haha. She has even put some on her ipod. I said see you guys do like my music haha. My daughter is always bringing her cd's in the car she listens to them over and over and over again too. I think it is really easy for a lot of the songs to take on meaning for people. Everyone can have their own way of taking in the lyrics and it means different things for everyone. It is nice to have such great songs that everyone can enjoy in that way. [Prairiedawn31]
I like the Dixie Chicks. I like their raw sound and ability to stand up for themselves and how they sing openly about many different emotions. It's been a while since I bought a new CD. I do listen to them over and over. You've made me feel like a teenager again, just by asking! I remember how music was so important then. Thank you. [howellslj]
If I am on a long Drive I can actually play a CD over and over again I have my Music playing on here sometimes and it is on repeat lol [gabs8513]
yes i listen it again and again if there is my favourite song .well i didnt enjoy sinnging with that song but i just want to hear it again and again. i just think on my favourite topic or just dream while listening music. i repeat it as many time as i love it.after some i even didnt like to hear it. [decent07]
