Patches by Clarence Carter.I heard this when I was younger and I cried like a baby. The story is so sad..I love artists who can move you to tears..That is a sign of true talent! [autunno]
hi autunno...yes!! it is indeed... [vanities]
I have! The song was How to Save a Life by The Fray. It reminded me of many things of the past and sometimes present. The song reminds me of the friend (didnt die, but very depressed) so I always think about that person when I hear the song. Same goes for Hey There Delilah. [crazyazn55]
There are a few like that....that just make you cry. Sometimes when I am down in the dumps though and want to cry but can't I just put on a sad song and let her rip....by the time I am done crying I feel much better! [jillhill]
I cant say that I cry whenever I hear a sad song ..but I do EMOTE .., haha .. have my thoughts running while I'm listening .., [cheverlie]
hello vanities i hear ya about some music that is sad like that. and to answer your question one of the saddest songs that i have ever heard is "Just A Dream" by Carrie Underwood. also that country song by Martina McBride called "Concrete Angel" will make tears come to my eyes. and the music video of it as well, i cannot watch the music video without tears coming to my eyes. so no, your not the only one that has that problem in listening to a sad song. take care and have a beautiful evening. [TnWoman]
I used to go to sleep listening to music. There was a singer, Timi Yuro (you can still hear her on YOUTUBE) that I liked. Timi serenaded me all night. I was suicidal the next day. I tell you, never again did I go to bed listening to sad music. Timi sang songs like "Hurt", "Make the World Go Away," "I',m Sorry". Now when I hear those sad songs, I laugh and say to that singer and myself "Girl, get over it. Stop being pitiful. You need a life!" LOL. To this day, I would still rate Timi Yuro as the singer with the saddest voice I have ever heard. [StarBright]
I'm not menopausal (and I'm a man, LOL!) and yet I am easily touched by sentimental songs. "The Prayer" of Josh Groban makes me think of our worsening global condition and "Goodbye" of Air Supply makes me reminisce of my failed relationships. When it comes to saddest melody though, I think nothing can beat "You Give Me a Mountain". I don't know who recorded the song but here are some of the lines which make it so, so sad. Some part of the first stanza: ... My mother died giving me life. Deprived of the love of a father... The first two lines of the second stanza: You know Lord, I've been in prison For a crime that I've never done... I can't remember the last stanza but it tells how the writer did not get along well with his wife causing the later to move away with their child thus the firs two lines of the chorus says: But this time Lord, you give me a mountain A mountain that I may never climb Very touching (too dramatic to some) but it's the only song I know that speaks of a father's love of his child. He can take that his wife is leaving but he can't imagine living without his son. [eichs1]
Hey vanities! Yup! I can hear a sad song and it will set off some kind of sad memories. I used to listen to the radio alot more than I do now. I love to listen to music especially when I'm doing work around the house. It usually puts me in a better mood. But, there are times when a song does affect me and makes me cry. Music can make us feel a whole range of emotions! [Opal26]
don't worry my friend, i also experience that. i am not aware that it is part of our pre menopausal symptoms...hehehe but i am one emotional and sensitive person. it may be a song,or even a movie that can really get into me and make me cry. just last week i watched Benjamin Button with my 2 girls, and it made me cry so hard. i was so touched by the movie. There is this guy, Marc Bianchi, who plays music as Her Space Holiday and his music is positively heartbreaking. Most of it was inspired by the very messy end to a serious relationship but there are some songs about his family life too. One of my favorites, that tears me apart every time I hear it is called From South Carolina: From South Carolina To San Francisco I'm always waiting here Outside of this door I hope that my key fits I hope that this lock clicks Because I'll find you standing there With your dyed black hair We'll put that old record on And dance to your favorite song The one that I wish I made But wouldn't ever play Because of the war in me That killed my self-esteem But somehow when I'm with you My state of mind improves And I won't need that medicine To concentrate again And I know it isn't fair To expect you to care For someone who won't get well I think we can both tell That this the final night To get this goodbye right So I hope that when I leave You will still think of me Not as I am today But as someone you wanted to stay From South Carolina... I actually have dozens of really sad songs in my library. Some of them make everyone sad and some just make me sad... [crimsonladybug]
Yes, I can have songs affect me that strongly. Sometimes if the emotions get too overwhelming I have to turn the radio off. I enjoy listening to oldies radio stations that play music from the 50's and 60's, but whenever I hear Elvis sing "In the Ghetto" I can't bring myself to listen. I have heard the song dozens of times and know all the lyrics, but still feel like crying when I hear it. The same is true for "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro. One of the more recent songs I found myself having to avoid is "Lightning Crashes" by Live. But then, it was popular at the time I was pregnant with my first child. A song that is a tribute to a friend who died in childbirth...well, the timing was really bad for me. Even today I still can't listen to it. [Wordplay]
Wow there are so many that make me cry. I can't think of a lot off the top of my head, but I think two of them would be "Breathing" by Kate Bush and "Love Takes Time" by Mariah Carey. Especially Breathing, because it's about an unborn baby who dies of plutonium poisoning from a nuclear fallout. Kind of crazy idea, but it's so sad! Watch the video on youtube too, it's heartbreaking. [turandotty]

Don't Cry Joni by Conway Twitty. I know, this is a very old song but everytime I hear this, it really makes me sad. This is one of the songs that my mom used to play for me when I was young especially when I couldn't sleep. During that time, I didn't know the meaning of the song. This is actually a song that tells a story about a teenage girl who fell in love with a guy who's older than her. The guy had to leave his hometown which made the girl so sad. Much worse, the guy didn't take the girl seriously so before leaving, he told her these words: "Joni, Joni please don't cry. You'll forget me by and by." which made her teardrops fell like rain that day. After few years, the guy went back and realized that he still loved Joni. Too bad, Joni was already married to the guy's best friend. These were Joni's words: "Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry. You'll forget me by and by. It's been five years since you've been gone. Jimmy, I married your best friend John." It's so sad, isn't it? [Ephraim123]
"Some Day" by Nickelback made me fall apart the first time I heard it: the morning after a break up!! Another song that just makes me cry every time is "Old Lang Syne" by Dan Fogleburg. The lyrics are wonderful yet absolutely depressing and we can all pretty much relate to them. If you haven't heard it, it's worth a listen, it's a very beautiful song, just make sure to grab the tissues! [SuperHumanC]
I like sad songs very much. Whenever I am free from my routine work I like to sit alone and sing old tregedy songs. I am not a singer, but when I am alone, I sing filmy songs and specially tregedy songs. I leave my flat, go down stair in the garden, sit in a corner and sing all old filmy melody songs.About one hour or little more I pass my time like this alone and I am very fresh. Many a time while singing a tragedy song I also cry. I like to cry with the words of songs. And I am very much fresh. At that time I do not like any one else with me. Offcourse my lover is always there in my mind, whom I could not marry. [jayaramesh]
luther vandross's DANCE WITH MY FATHER... i got teary-eyed when i listen to it.. really good, so touching, so sad! [leizlmarie]
Dear Vanities What song is that that makes my sweet friend cry? I am sorry it makes you sad Vanities..oh yes, there are many songs that make my eyes well up with tears because of memories..funny how music can move us so much..I dont think it is anything to do with menopause, just emotion and memories. Love and Hugs xoxoxosad There is one song in particular that just destroys me when I hear it. [OceanTiara]
Hi vanities! It do happens to me when i feel blue sometimes.A sad song or a moving story can make me cry a bit.I think maybe something in the song has touched one part of our mind such as bad memories in the past.yes, the subconcious is working. [languo112]
"Take Me Out of The Dark" and "We are The Reason" by our local artist Gary V. here in the Philippines are the songs which really made me cry... ^_^ they're christian songs though... Especially those times when I felt like I made a lot of mistakes and I haven't thanked Him enough for all the blessings He bestowed onto me.. Hehe [jd107nette]
Ofcourse it happens to everyone. All of us has emotions and music is one thing that triggers it. The other day, i heard the song "the man who can't be moved". Gosh, it's so sad. I wondered if that really happened. i mean like there's someone who really waited on the corner where they first met? Wow..and it made me wish for a moment that there's a guy who can't be moved waiting for me...and i'll know where i'll find him... [krizzztelll]
There are many sad songs, but one that I have been listening a lot to lately and that always touches me is "No Bravery", by James Blunt. Either live or in studio, I can feel what he expresses in this song. "I see no bravery in your eyes anymore... Only sadness." It's a great song, really! [anonimuzz]
Socrpions - Send me and Angel or Alice Cooper - Ballad of Dwight Fry [firstcontact1990]
The first one is Scorpions....typo... [firstcontact1990]
I hear many songs frequently that remind of a particular event, relationship, or myself. I don't break down and get to the point of switching it. Instead I reflect so much during the song, that it's over before I know it. Certain songs certainly have a severe emotional impact on people. [mayhem23]
My sad song is 'Bright Eyes' sung by Art Garfunkel. Always make me cry. [Anomalie]
G.C. Cameron's "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday," the excellent version from the Cooley High movie soundtrack. Brings tears to my eyes everytime...I can empathize with someone's loss, and the song keeps bringing up the sad image of the L train drowning out calls for help.... [penny78]
Hello vanities, I have a few favorite songs that are very memorable to me. But alas, I won't cry when I listen to them once a while lol It just makes me remember those good old days and I do feel sad when I hear those nice lyrics. [gr8life]
Music the window to the soul, I had not seen this discussion but it is one of those discussions that I really enjoy, there are many songs that have an emotional impact deep feelings connected from one to another event or person. Wayne Newton sang a song titled 'Daddy Don't you walk so fast', it aired at the time that my parents were getting divorced and going through that trauma along with the trauma of my childhood from 3rd grade up through the years even today... The thing is that I like my father am not going so fast that my darling children can not catch up with me, it is the hatred of the woman that drives a wedge deep between us. Hatred in our world runs rampant and the only counter expression to this hatred is found in the prose and poetics of the author of love. True love holds the key to making memories. I hope you can listen again and heal the wounds that have brought you to the point of the emotion to be turned off instead of turned on... Remember not every turn on needs to be a sexual turn on, just an ability to enjoy that deep beauty and feeling of being at peace even through the pain... [TheGreatWhiteBuffalo]
