Hi guys, what decade of music do you like/prefer? and why?
1950's
1960's
1970's
1980's
1990's
Present?
I preferred the music of before, mostly 1980's and below. I find the music there more soothing and with good quality.
Now, the songs are more of noise and lesser and lesser artist have good voices. You'd see that when you listen to the recording and hear them perform, both don't sound the same. Obviously, recordings are too edited these days.
I miss the songs of before when words are really given thought about and have good meaning.
How bout you?

well i like today's music the most but i also like music from the 60's [poppoppop111]
thats hard to answer because i like music from all eras but some of the stuff that is coming out now is stupid. especially country iam sorry but alot of the so called country isnt country anymore it has really changed over the years. [frygirl]
It always feels good for me when hearing and playing songs in the era of 80's. :) Especial mention Air Supply and Dan Hills how about Glen Medeiros...And a lot of singers in 80's... [amazingheart]
Oh, I'm an 80's girl too! wub [laydee]
I listen to a lot of different decades. I like todays music and the oldies. I love stuff from the 1980-1990's and stuff from the 1950-1960's. I can listen to anything almost. as long as it sounds good to me. I used to be a lot more picker with my music but as i've gotten older (soon to be 21) my taste for music has grown into other styles. I still prefer my rock but i like everything now. what i prefer depends on how i'm feeling at that moment. sometimes i prefer my oldies and sometimes i feel like listening to country. lol so it's all on how i'm feeling and what i'm in the mood for at the moment. happy [sameroad]
I listen to a lot of classic rock such as Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Cream. I recently discovered 80s music which I fell in love with quickly, although it is below my love of the ones listed before. I now mostly listen to Ratt, Quiet Riot, AC/DC, Poison, etc.. Pretty much anything after the 90s I barely listen to, unless it is a band from a previous generation with new albums. The 90s is also a big favorite of mine and that is the music I was listening to as I was growing up so I feel nostalgic for it. [loveyevi]
I like very little music from today's culture. I prefer music from the late 70s and early to mid 80s. This was the period of lots of romantic music. It makes me feel very good inside and I can revert inside myself and visualize scenes that make my heart beat race. [leonelaphotography]
Sweet, we have same the same tastes. [leonelaphotography]
well i think i like the late 80s to whole 90s. i like rock music and around thet time it was still quite popular. 90s was the time i became an adult and started going out on clubs and dancing, that's why like that decade. [health_beauty]
late 80's to mid 90's music. And right now, I'm still stuck in the grunge period. Haha. I am seriously loving that era of music. [inkyuboz]
Well it depends on my mood.If i am very lively and happy i like to hear peppy numbers which belong to present. If i am sad i like to hear sad songs of 1970 and 1980.So music goes according to my mood. [bamrahkirti]
Me too, 80s and below. But there are a few good songs too at present , like The Prayer, the songs of Celine Dion, Westlife , I'm flying without wings, I swear it all over again, Words, My love, these are songs that are beautiful. Happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]
Hi laydee, I admire 1970 and 1980 and there are also 1960 songs that I love...I agree with you, it is more soothing and relaxing and it never fades after all these years!happyhappyhappy [checapricorn]
I prefer music from 1980's and some of the early 1970's. I agree that music back then was meaningful and artists could really sing. These days turning on TV music channels I get angry and stressed because of hearing stupid beats and singers singing the same sentence again and over again. It annoys! It doesn't mean all present music is bad, I like some of the British artists mostly from these days. [Lindery]
Yeah, I guess they don't have creativity and patience anymore in creating these songs. Same lines, lines that have no meaning, most are mumblings and they can't sing without swearing! [laydee]
I prefer the present music.. but i still listen to some music from the 80's and the 90's.. i like Usher Raymond, Rihanna, Beyonce, Boyz II Men, Chris Brown, Craig David, Jordin Sparks, Paramore, The Fray and many more.. i listen to all types of music but my top favorite would be RNB, alternative and house music.. [gracie04]
Hi there! It's great to know that there is still people who still loved those old songs. Just like you, i am one of the 1970's and 1980's fan. It really makes you feel so good. As you said, the music has good melody and the words they used in the songs are more appropriate than the present music. It is meaningful unlike the present music which has too many vulgar languages in it. Have a nice day. [normy511]
1950's-1960's mostly are the young rock generations and some classical. 1970's- surely the retro music and some jazz blues. 1980's- pop jazz and so many memorable love songs. 1990's- aww too many pop and RnB fusion. The most music I like are from the 80's. I think most of the songs have beautifully-written lyrics and of course the instruments were not too adulterated. [manunulat]
The most music I like are from the 80's. I think most of the songs have beautifully-written lyrics and of course the instruments were not too adulterated. So true.. [laydee]
I dont care what any one says, nothing will ever even come close as to the songs in the 70's and 80's they all meant something, there would always be a song that would come on that would relate to something that was going on in your life at that time, i could pick a song and send it to either my guy or one of my friends that would be saying something that i would want to get across to them but was to shy or not so outspoken, so i would send it in a song, unless it's coming from celine dionne or ones that are on the same song pace, you cant find the meaningful songs any more, { does anyone understand this? } lol [cindyml]
I surely get what you mean! Or maybe it's because of our age? hahahahaha [laydee]
there is no language for the feel of music. everyone can understand it. nowadays people are enjoying the music with the musical instruments. there is no important for the liriks. i do like deep and depth words which gives meaning to the music [romeo2103]
i am basically fond of 1970's and 1980's music.i feel that those times when songs were sung they had beautiful meaning to it.they were much more nice and soft to hear.my father always keep telling us in our time there were such lovely songs and now when you hear its all wierd and at times has vulgar and indicent words in it.they were all evergreen songs in todays time also if you hear them you will like to hear them again but now its just the opposite. nowdays its just sung to make business. [henahuda]
Yeah, it's really sad that it's obvious that they're singing for business. It's even weird because a few days ago, I was looking through old songs in youtube, and you can see that the artists really know how to sing. They didn't need their 'looks' to market the songs they sang. Now, singers need boob jobs, need to bare more skin (to the point of indecency) just to sell a song or an album. Which is pathetic. [laydee]
I do not think that I have a preference as to the era of music that I listen to. I find that all types and era's bring something different. Yes I would agree that some of the music now a days is very hard to understand, but some of it has some really good points and values to it. They do seem to do alot of editing in the music as well. Where as in the old days they did not do much of editing. [lisa0502]
I like different genres and decades of music. My favorite are the cool music from the 80s and also the 1990s. I especially love dance music I can easily groove to. [MariaD]
I also like 1980's only. Those are so melodious and meaningful. Those are not limited to time. [itsmine]
When it comes to Music, there are some good singers out there today, but the best era for me of music I still enjoy listening too from the older days would have to be the 60s and 70s. There are a lot of songs from the 70s that I hear yet today that I can remember where I was when they first came out even. It is actually good to have many of these songs still played and enjoyed yet today. [KrauseHome]
Oh yeah! I'd say that songs that last until now are songs that are really worth listening to. Look at most of the songs now-a-days, after a while, they lose their meaning, and you lost interest in listening to them too. Unlike the old songs where even if you repeat it over and over, you still fall in love. [laydee]
wow, that is a tough question to answer. i like classical, early jazz, big band, music from the 1970's, 8o's and some of todays stuff. i am pretty much all over the board when it comes to music. [cher913]
I LOVE the 80's but like other eras also 50's+. Just something about the 80's music....'they don't make em like they used to' hehe [MarleneDawn]
'they don't make em like they used to' oh tell me about it! [laydee]
I'm not sure I can categorize my music tastes by decade. If I had to, I guess I'd probably like the 80's music just because that's when I was in high school and the music brings me back. [TheCasualReporter]
Well pretty much anybody's generation that they grew up in will most likely be their favorite generation of music. Mine would be the nineties because that's when I grew up in. To me all of the older music is rather boring and repetitive especially things like classic rock and hair metal. But who am I to dis a generation's music right? [jambi462]
Perhaps there's truth in that. But I also know of relatives and brothers born in this generation who, when exposed to the old songs, saw that the craft of the old songs are far more exceptional than today. But yeah, we all have our preferences. happy [laydee]
I was born in 1984,so i like 1980's and 1990's sang ,such as right here waitting, can you feel the love tonight, country road, say you say me.Another reason,i tough them so much, the sang was sang on the street whole day,i was force to hear it,then i like them. [ourfff]
I prefer the music before 1980's. I am from India, and i always like the Songs sung by Rafi,Kishore and Lata. But there are some songs in this years which also i like. [shahanas]
I prefer music from the 60s and 70s some 80s. I listen to classic rock. I enjoy Led Zeppelin, The rolling stones, The Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, The doors etc.... I feel there was a lot more talent in that time period. [moneymommy]
My favorite decade of music was the 1980's. I was a teenager then, and I loved that time period. I like the hair bands and the other pop bands such as Duran Duran, Culture Club, and who can forget about George Michael. The 1970's rock was also really good as well. [sdmoonchild]
I'd prefer music in the 80s. Most of the songs back then are really soothing and relaxing. Though just to be fair, there are still a lot of songs that are great nowadays. It's just that there are too many trash songs today that's why most of us hate modern music. [Ephraim123]
I prefer Rock or Metal from the 70's and 80's. There is some good stuff from the late 60's and the 90's. But it is primarily the 70's and 80's. [firstcontact1990]
I like music from every decade, but I prefer 50s, 60s and 80s. I love me some 80s! I also really like 70s classic rock. I was brought up on a wide range of music so I have a pretty ecletic mix of music I enjoy. I might be listening to New Kids on the Block one minute and switch to Boston the next. haha [Flight84]
I like rock and roll from the 60's. but Country from now. You could actually understand the words. lol. I've only found a couple of good artist that even come close to these two catagories. Oasis and Alex Giordani. One is from England and the other Italy. The main reason I like Alex's music is because of the feelings he puts into his music. You can just close your eyes and His music not only soothes, but take you away from the stresses of everyday. great Musician. He is a blend of the beatles and U2. [katie472001]
