probably Adam's Song by Blink 182 or Unwritten Law's Save Me. [Gorcon]
i don't think that i have ever heard that song before honestly, i think that i will go and listen to it thought to see what you are talkign about...thanks for taking the time to reply! [jhl930]
Wow. I think what I thought was the saddest song just got owned. Have you ever listened to Konstantine, by Something Corporate? It's about two people breaking up, but the way the vocals are arranged and intertwined with the beautiful piano work, it really gets to me. And there is such beautiful imagery in me. It is one of those ballads that gets inside you and tears you up from the inside. [TheHawkBat]
I have a few that really get to me. One is "Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw - I think that is one of the saddest, most beautiful songs ever - the end where he's asking for God to take him instead of her just really tears me up. Another is the "I'll Cover You" Reprise from Rent. It's just heartbreaking to listen to, and Jesse Martin's delivery makes it even more so. Take just about any song from Les Miserables - "Fantine's Death" really gets me, as does "On My Own" - that whole musical is heartbreaking. Anything that sings about letting kids grow up breaks my heart, although I can't think of a specific song at the moment. [youngsweetheart]
The saddest song I have ever heard is Concrete Angel - I think it is by Martina McBride. I think I have heard the song you are talking about - that one is sad too! [kellys3ps]
The sadest song I have ever heard was "How Do You Heal A Broken Heart" by Chris Walker because at the time the song was first sung, I just broke up with my girlfriend, so you understand how fit the song to me at that time. Chris asked perfectly the same question and expressed what I felt that time. [asiatic_r10]
its show me the meaning song from back street boys..what a song is it..i just like to hear again and again... [madhan0587]
I have to go with "Mad World" by Gary Jules. It's a seriously depressing song. [wonderlander]
Black black heart,I think. [19891115]
There are so many I could list on here. These are the ones that come to mind first. Iron & Wine - Naked As We Came Blink 182 - Adam's Song Hawthorne Heights - Rescue Me Saosin - You Are Not Alone Sum 41 - Pieces Azure Ray - Displaced Switchfoot - Let That Be Enough Nirvana - Lithium [Xdrowninghavocx]
I think it would have to be "You are My Special Angel". When I was a young girl this song was popular and not sad but in 1996, as I was watching my little granddaughter die, day by day; one day I put this record on and was standing in front to her singing this song to her. She was in her special little seat and was dancing, the only way she could dance. By moving her arms from the elbow only. She was so happy and her little eyes just lit up as I sang the song to her. I was singing: You are my special angel, sent from up above, The Lord smiled down on me and sent me an angel to love. Well I just started bawling and couldn't sing but she started crying wanting me to sing more so I finally finished it. A smile from your lips brings the summer sunshine A tear from your eyes bring the rain. I feel your touch, Your warm embrace, And I'm in heaven again. You are my special Angel Through eternity I'll have my Special Angel Here to watch over me. And I do believe she is my special angel watching over me. She went to heaven soon after that on June 1, 1996. I still cry every time I hear this song. Nana [Nana530]
I've read the responses and I have to admit I haven't heard most of those songs and now I'm intrigued and would love to listen to those songs. Anyway, the saddest songs that I've heard so far are: Day you slipped away - Avril Lavigne - I heard this song in one of the clips of One Tree Hill in YouTube and it gave me goosebumps. The video actually helped with the sadness factor of this song. I didn't really expect this song to be one of Avril's. The lyrics are so intense. Simple but it really hit me. This song is for you if you have lost someone you love. The bridge actually is my favorite part. Here's some of it: "I've had my wake up wont' you wake up, I keep asking why. And I can't take it it wasn't fake it it happened you passed by. Now you're gone, now you're gone, there you go, there you go somewhere I can't bring you back. Now you're gone, now you're gone, there you go, there you go, somewhere you're not coming back." Dance with my father - Celine Dion / Luther Vandross - Another sad sad song. I noticed most of my songs usually reminds me of my dad. I kind of like "dedicate" these songs to him although he'd actually prefer old old songs from Frank Sinatra or something. But yeah, the lyrics of this song really is sad and it made me cry on my birthday. I had my birthday last June and it's my very first birthday without my dad.sad The ice is getting thinner - Death Cab for Cutie - I heard this song from Gossip Girl and like Avril's song, the scene with this song is plain sad and heartbreaking. I wallowed over this for about a week. I'm not sure if I'm just paranoid but it really affected me that much. The lyrics itself is already heartbreaking. Here's some: "We bury our love in the windsory grave Along came the snow, was all that remained. But we stayed by its side, as the days turned to weeks And the ice kept getting thinner with every word that we'd speak. And when spring arrived We were taken by surprise when the flows under our feet Led into the sea Nothing was left for you and me." That's all I can think of right now. I'm actually starting to feel really sad as Im' typing this cos I'm listening at the songs at the same time. Crazy. I know.blink [marababe]
for me its endless love, the theme song of a korean telenovela, i keep on crying everytime i hear that song... it is really so sad that even i dont understand any lyrics at all. [Margarit]
Sad songs, I have heard. . . And is shocked that his soul songs, after I heard the true soul was touched, not consciously tears streaming down. . . Have you encountered such a situation? [tjonys]
Oh I havent heard that song and yes it is a sad one. There are 2 sad songs that always stay with me, the first one is by Dolly Parton called Me & Little Andy its about a little girl who gets lost out in the cold and her little dog is with her, I havent heard it in such a long time I think the little girl passes away. And the second is about a Trucker and a boy in a wheel chair but cant really remember how thats goes now and it was a country & western song. Hahaha got me wanting to hear them again now so I can remember how they go so I am going to try and download them and see if I can find them [msmell]
well the songs that make me feel sad is the departure songs!, departures like, friends leaving us, lost love, missing friends, love failure, and so on!!! and my most favorite is the song that kk an indian pop album singer has sung.. its an hindhi song.. let me translate for you in english!!! we dont know whether we would be there tomorrow.. but tomorrow we would remember the moments we spent together, those lovely moments... we may not know whether we would be there or not tomorrow but we would remember the moments we spent!! [magna86]
There is only one song this is guaranteed to make me cry. Creedence Clearwater Revival's Someday Never Comes That song hits me hard on several levels. This verse especially: "Well time and tears went by and I collected dust, for there were many things that I didn't know, when daddy went away, he said, try to be a man, and someday you'll understand" Even typing it out made me choke up a little. [drzeuss]
Broken Vow by Lara Fabian because I could relate to the song. Everytime I hear the song over the radio, I feel like crying. The lyrics goes like this.. Tell me her name I want to know The way she looks And where you go I need to see her face I need to understand Why you and I came to an end Tell me again I want to hear Who broke my faith in all these years Who stays with you at night While I'm here all alone Remembering when I was your own I'm sorry for sharing the lyrics. I feel like crying now. I don't want to hear the song again because it really is so sad. Thank you and God bless. [arcenal]
According to me: "Show me the meaning of being lonely" by back street boys was the sadest song i have ever heard. [amit_joamon]
I think the saddest song I've heard is "Dance with my Father Again". Err, I think that is the title. haha. Well it's about a father who died, and the daughter wants to dance again with his father. There. I still have my father, he's still alive but I think it's really lonely losing a father. [trishasantos]
Eric Claptons, (here in heaven) that he wrote for his 2 year old son who fell from a balcony and died many years ago, as soon as i hear that song i get teary eyed....it's really sad [tattylashes]
sadoh don't get me started...LOL... [tattylashes]
The song per se is not sad.The lyrics of Life (a Christian song) are beautiful on the contrary. But then, it is the background song when we buried my Dad so I tend to feel sad whenever I hear it because I remember him. Few stanzas would be... Life is not at all that bad my friend. If you believe in yourself,if you believe there's someone who walks to life with you You'll never be alone Just learn to reach out and open your heart Lift up your hands to God and He'll show you the way... And He said cast your burdens upon me those who are heavily laden Come to me all of you who are tired of carrying heavy loads For the yoke I will give you is easy and my burden is light Come to me and I will give you rest. When you feel the world is tumbling down on you And you have no one that you can hold on to Just face the rising sun and you'll see hope and there's no need to run Lift up your hands to God and He'll make you feel alright...:) [coffeebeatnik]
Peter Gabriel wrote a song called "Don't Give Up" on the Album 'So' that says alot about going home after being away for years. It is a good reminder that what you remember of your childhood home is not what it is years later when you return to see friends and family. The song talks about moving around constantly, and being unwanted. It makes me cry every tome that I hear it, because I went home after being gone for 6 years, and everything did change, not necessarily for the better. [myssthyng]
The saddest song I have heard is Concrete Angel. I will keep an eye on the one you mention in here. [ShellyB]
cryThe 1st song that popped in my head when I read this post was "Best I Ever Had" by Vertical Horizon...it's a song about a failed relationship, just the lyrics, combined with the haunting melody is enough to make me sigh, hehe--check out part of the lyrics "But it's not so bad, you're just the best I ever had. I don't want you back, you're just the best I ever had." you can feel that even if the latter part of the lyrics says he doesn't want her back, you know it's just the opposite, which makes it really sad. [raenie]
For me the saddest song is Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle.. It's not really supposed to be a sad song but every time I hear it I cry coz I think about how my own dad wouldn't be able to treat me like the one that was mentioned in the song... I never met my dad in person we only had a few conversations over the phone and then he died when I was twelve.. So whenever I hear this song which is supposedly sung by a father during the wedding day of his daughter I cry thinking about how my dad never saw me do any of those things nor will he be able to walk me down the aisle... :'( [serenity264]
I would have to say that I truly feel there is one song that fits almost every situation out there. So depening on the situation is depending on which song I find to be the saddest. My first is What Do You Say by Reba McEntire Stuck at a red light outside an adult bookstore His son said Daddy what are all those X's for As the light turned green he changed the subject fast Started talking about football as they drove right past So what do you say in a moment like this When you can't find the words to tell it like it is Just bite your tongue and let your heart lead the way Let's get out of here Oh what do you say Seventeen years old She was out with her friends They started drinking at some party Till she was three sheets to the wind Her momma always told her she could call no matter what She was crying on the front steps When her mom showed up So what do you say in a moment like this When you can't find the words to tell it like it is Just bite your tongue and let your heart lead the way Let's get out of here Oh what do you say Sometimes you gotta listen to the silence And give yourself a little time to think Her every breath is weaker than the last And lately when she sleeps she talks about the past Her husband knows she's tired of holding on She looks at him and says I wanna go home What do you say in a moment like this When you can't find the words to tell it like it is Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way Oh what do you say Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way Oh what do you say Ooo, what do you say Second would be One More Day With You by Diamond Rio Last night I had a crazy dream A wish was granted just for me It could be for anything I didnt ask for money Or a mansion in malibu I simply wished, for one more day with you Chorus One more day One more time One more sunset, maybe Id be satisfied But then again I know what it would do Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you First thing Id do, is pray for time to crawl Then Id unplug the telephone And keep the tv off Id hold you every second Say a million I love yous Thats what Id do, with one more day with you Chorus Leave me wishing still, for one more day Leave me wishing still, for one more day [ebsharer]
"Goodbye" - Hootie and the Blowfish "Hello" - Evanescence "A Love Without End, Amen" - George Strait Jewel has always sung some sad songs. Dozens more Country songs...I guess it just depends on which songs you relate more to. [Nertzfan]
And yes you guys are right about "Tears In Heaven" - Eric Clapton...one of the greatest sad songs. [Nertzfan]
Herman's Hermits - End of the World Why does the sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore? Don't they know it's the end of the world 'Cause you don't love me anymore? Why do the birds go on singing? Why do the stars glow above? Don't they know it's the end of the world It ended when I lost your love. I wake up in the morning and I wonder Why ev'rything's the same as it was. I can't understand, no I can't understand How life goes on the way it does Why does my heart go on beating? Why do these eyes of mine cry? Don't they know know it's the end of the world? It ended when you said goodbye Don't they know know it's the end of the world? It ended when you said goodbye. [dawnald]
im not sure i've heard alot [headbanger21]
fields of gold song always makes me sad since it was used in the cancer advert, especially the bit where a daughter wishes her father good see her in her wedding dress and when the little gets ready for school, he wants his mum there [OConnell87]
The saddest song I ever heard was " Candle In The Wind " It definitely speaks of a loved one who has passed away and the melody is so endearing. Its unforgettable. [Bluepatch]
There are so many sad songs I love and had made me cry on of them is " Somewhere over the rainbow" Sang by a little girl named Connie Talbot. She blows my heart away with how she sings her songs. I also like this old song but I forgot the title..I think it goes like this "I was dancing with my sweetheart on the Tennesee hall when an old friend I happen to see..I introduced her to my loved one but when they were dancing my friend stole my sweetheart from me...." That song tore my heart when ever I sing it...I also love this one that goes like this "Jimmy, jimmy please don't cry you'll forget me by and by it's been 5 yrs since you've been gone..Jimmy I married your best friend John" It was an old time song as well there was this girl who fell in love with an older guy but the older guy kept saying she was young..he left and when he left he cant forget this girl but when he came back she already married his best friend. Very tearycryI have loads of sad songs but I can't mostly remember the title..I just know how it is sang.happy [p3halliwel2005]

The Johnny Cash version Hurt by the Nine Inch Nails would get my vote. The video is incredible. [slanted]
That's hard. The first song I thought of was "where is the love?" by the Black Eyed Peas feat. Justin Timberlake - just because I heard it on the radio the other day. Feel free to check out my discussions as well. -Stefanie [steflane]
