What Was The #1 Song On The Day You Were Born

http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm I do NOT want any personal info as that will get me deleted. However, I found this to be fun!!! My Song was "Rag Mop" by The Ames Brothers. I doubt that anybody even remembers that song. I seem to vaguely remember. But what do you expect out of somebody my age??? Here it is just in case you're as old as me lol lol lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRQSYYOu_Zc One friend of mine found the name of the #1 song on her day was actually her name!!! What was the song on the day you were born & did it mean anything to you??? Remember...do NOT give your birth date here!!!

[question posted by LadyMarissa]

responses and comments:

The song that was #1 on my birthday was the song "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco. The funny thing is that even before I knew that song was the #1 song on the day I was born, it's been one of my favorite songs for several years now. [DarthJustice]
that would make you a little younger than me because I well remember when It was #1 and I believe it was high on the Top 100 for the year that year as well. rockin tune. So many musicians admitting Mozart's influence made classical music cool again too. [CarlKnittel]

This is really cool LadyMarissa! I have seen sites where you can order a newspaper headline from the day of your birth but I have not seen this before. On my birth-day the number one song was "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers. Not a bad song actually, gotta be happy with that! happy [James72]
OMG...the PERFECT song for you!!! happy wub whistle [LadyMarissa]

Mine was "Wheel of Fortune" by Kay Starr. I have no idea what that song sounds like, but I vaguely remember the name Kay Starr. Thanks for that really cool link! We can look up the song of the day for so many special events. I like looking back in history at things like this. When my kids were born, I took the newspapers from those days and clipped out some of the more meaningful things that happened that day and put them in a scrapbook. Of course, they're getting really brown with age now! I think a link to those kinds of things is so much better than a crumbling piece of paper but, then, that crumbling paper has some meaning, too. I wonder where I can find a copy of that song, "Wheel of Fortune" by Kay Starr? [mentalward]
My Mom loved Kay Starr!!! Here is your song...happy happy happy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgELNz5YDUs&feature=related [LadyMarissa]

The song for my date of birth I have never heard of but the artist I have. The song is "That Lucky Old Sun" by Frankie Laine [tyc415]
I have you beat by a couple of years LadyMarissa, and I have read all of the responses to this post and remember sooo many of the songs.. This has been one of the best discussions that I have ever had the pleasure to respond to in a long time.. I have enjoyed it tremendously.. [DonnaLawson]

"Hey There" by Rosemary Clooney, which I love the show it comes from (The Pajama Game) and the singer. This is cool and I am going to share it!! THANKS! [nanajanet]
I too love that song. Seems very fitting to me!!! Rosemary was awesome!!!!!! On top of that her nephew was George Clooney. How lucky could she be??? rasp wub] rasp [LadyMarissa]

hi! this is fun! i learned that the number 1 song during my birth date was "Maneater" by Daryl Halls and John Oates. i don't think it has any meaning for me (hehehe... ) but learning this was fun and interesting. thanks to you LadyMarissa! [iamnes]
strangely enough I'm pretty sure I still have the LP that song came from. Stranger still is the number of people I know who look at me like I'm from mars when I mention the word "LP" It's downright annoying when they don';t know what it means even after you explain. In fact their reaction is normally "how old are you, I never herd of such a thing. I just ask them what they think dj's are "scratching" in those rap songs. they generally have no idea. [CarlKnittel]

Hi LadyM I really don't know who was no 1 when I was born..infact I have never even thought about it..so will have to leave this one with a I don't know...hugs littleowl [littleowl]

Mine is "Buttons and Bows" by Dinah Shore. HMMM, quite interesting, my Mom said it was like a little doll and I do have a real preference for girly clothes. My sis can attest to that.w00t [Barbietre]
I still find it hard to think of her as anything but a talk show hostess. I never knew her as anything else until her music became a trivial pursuit answer in my teens. [CarlKnittel]

Hi ladyM..have just looked mine up..it's 'Memories Are Made Of This' by Dean Martin....Wow when I looked a it it does mean a lot to me..about my life, loves the blessing my family is to me and the hills I have climbed from the dales to where I am now...my the memories...and Memories by Alison Moyet is another of my favourites but the real favourite is Somewhere over The Rainbow...all have significant meanings hugs littleowl [littleowl]

"Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles is my song I suppose haha. This song does not seem too old to me, though I suppose I am not very old, it just seems like many years of someones life, time really flies, it's crazy. I wonder when this song will be redone by another artist, only time will tell hehe. [sugarplum9084]
That is one of my favorite songs!!! The words "black velvet" refer to either Elvis himself (as his likeness is usually painted on a black velvet canvas) or his voice. Black velvet is described as a "new religion that'll bring y'all to your knees". The chorus talks about "black velvet in that little boy's smile; black velvet with that slow, southern, style" and the end of the first verse claims that "The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything, " and that "he'd leave you longing for [black velvet]". [LadyMarissa]

I have no idea!! I DO want it to be, Unchained melody sung by the Righteous Brothers, though.. Does that work for you or do I need to have THAT exact song..? well then I can't play.. sob.sob!blushsad [fjaril]
would you believe it?? I am NOT that wonderful Righteous Brothers song connection at all.. I am the beatles song.. "I feel fine#.. I played it and sang along and remembered hearing it ( well NOT THAT DAY!!.. sheesh) but later on as the beatles were popular a long time. I even played it a couple of times! It is bouncey and catchey and I can be that too.. but.. sorry to disappoint.. who knew.. talk about being optimistic and WOOMP! realism hits,eh? Thanks for the swoons.. I bow deeply.. and take the final curtain call.. blushsad [fjaril]

I wasn't old enough to be singing when I was brought into the world, but even now, I don't remember "my" song either.. It was Ballerina" by Vaughn Monroe, now that is telling my age, not good, huh?? I wasn't sure that singing had been invented when I was born, I sometimes feel older than dirt anyway, but I guess that it was, lol.. Neat site.. [DonnaLawson]

I was so intrigued I looked it up! Guess what I found...... no UK charts before 52! I had to look up the US charts instead and it appears that a record called 'The Thing' by Phil Harris was having a good run! I'm not sure if that title says something about me or not! lol [Annmac]

It was there at the top for 3 weeks. Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto. Was top song for 3 weeks straight when it hit the US and UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyu_Sakamoto [shooie]
I didn't know you were that old!!! lol That was a beautiful song but I didn't understand a word of it. Fits you perfectly!!! lol lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtXQ31F1A-k [LadyMarissa]

Mine is Hot Stuff by Donna Summer. That song that is yours rag mop the only reason I heard of it before was my cousin danced to it in a dance review about 15 years ago. It was a cute dance lol. Now that I looked up Hot Stuff on Youtube I heard it before. Looking for some hot stuff baby this evening, I need some hot stuff, baby tonight lol. [mflower2053]
I loved it when she spoke of being a teenager & said I thought I was such HOT STUFF (& she was RIGHT) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8ikt0NGlqc [LadyMarissa]

Not fair the #1 song when I was born is not on iTunes ("The Song from Moulin Rouge (Where Is Your Heart)" by Percy Faith) and I don't know it. But I know every song that was on the list starting from when I was 2 years old. We did not have a TV until I was 7 so I guess music was the alternative (AM radio shocked no less). And I remember Rag Mop and Mom loved the Ames brothers. [Debs_place]
Go ahead, make me feel older than dirt...your MOM loved the Ames Brothers!!! lol Sorry you couldn't find your song on iTunes. Good thing I don't hold a grudge!!! lol lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Acq8yG2Fy8&feature=related [LadyMarissa]

"Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" by The Fifth Dimension i figured it had to be something off "hair" before i looked it uplol [scarlet_woman]

Mine is ONLY MAKE BELIVE by Conway Twitty. I do love Conway Twitty. I do remember it and I clicked on it and it took me to itunes which I am listening to and I could buy the album for 19.99. [teapotmommommerced]

Whoa man, this is surely interesting. I just found out that 'Mama Told Me (not to come)' by Three Dog Night was the song the day I was born. Now I know how I get Rock n Roll attitude from..lol [echosoundz]
WHOA is right!!! Three Dog Night was an AWESOME group!!! I don't think they did anything BAD!!!!!! And I really liked Mama Told Me!!! CONGRATULATIONS w00t w00t w00t [LadyMarissa]

The number one on the day I was born was 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon. Although I love Paul Simon I don't think that was one of his better songs so I'm a little disappointed. I also looked up what was number one in my country of birth on my birth date and it was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I never liked that song. sad [crispeater]
I'm sorry you don't like either song. I initially liked 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover but it grew old fast!!! I really enjoyed Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. I still enjoy hearing it every now & then!!! [LadyMarissa]

I've seen this website before. It's been a long time ago though so I couldn't remember what my birthday song was. So I looked mine up. Mine is Arthur's Theme (Best that you can do) by Christopher Cross. I didn't know what that song sounded like so I listened to it on youtube. I remember it now but it's been a long time since I've heard that song. I looked my husband's up too. His is Reunited by Peaches & Herb. I remember that song but I listened to it on youtube too. [sweetgirl_k1]

Raindrops keep fallin on my head by BJ Thomas. it must have been a really good day because I remember that song being a regular on the radio well into grade school. [CarlKnittel]
Raindrop was a GREAT song!!!! I had the HOTTS for BJ Thomas for the longest time!!!38??? Not if you remember as you indicated. I think you need to be HONEST & add a 20 to that number. My Mom stayed 39 until she celebrated the 39th anniversary of her 39th birthday!!! By then I was 52 & told her NOBODY believed that her child was older than her...especially since my Dad told everybody how old he really was. So she finally gave up & admitted her real age!!! lol wub wub [LadyMarissa]

Mine is "I'll make love to you" by Boyz II to men... I've heard the song and I'm familiar with Boyz but its not in my top 50. Maybe its that almost everything I listen to is rock, classic rock in particular, from the 70's to the 90's... thanks for this opportunity, its interesting to know what was the #1 song the day you were born Happy MyLotting and have a nice day! Xp [Haylie2610]
OMG, I LOVE that song. My hubby used to sing that song to me before he passed. That song brings back sooooo many GREAT memories. Thank you for being born on the day you were!!! [LadyMarissa]

The song that was number one on my birthday was called Rock the Boat which my mom says I sure did and the song that was number one when I was married was called Rush Rush by Paula Abdul. I was searching all my families birthdays and anniversaries..thanks for the link I appreciate it. [mtdewgurl74]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I82pl3Eaq98 OMG, I danced to that song a thousand and one times!!! I'm not sure I liked it, but it did have a beat I could dance to!!! lol I, too, had fun looking up important days in my life & the life of those I love!!! It is a very interesting site. I don't remember just how I found it, but am glad I did!!! w00t [LadyMarissa]
