When you are driving in town or on a trip and driving in your car do you tend to listen to the radio or listen to CD's? Or do you do both?
I tend to listen mainly to local radio stations when I am in and around town. If I am on a trip, I will pop in a CD when I get bored. If I can find decent music on the radio, that is what I usually do.

i agree, with so much crap on the radio today,i would rather listen to my cds.so i tend to listen to them more my cds and listen to what i like.thanks for asking.... :) Blessed Be Hecate's witch)O( [jdw1971witch]
Yes, I do have a nice collection. It has decreased since the girls also like country music and I find myself missing CD's all the time. I used to keep them filed in order by artist...can't keep up anymore with the way they sneak them out. Arrffff! [kareng]
i do both. recently we got satelite radio (sirius), and that is awesome. all those commercial free music stations!! i am in heaven!! [lpetges]
See with me being a former DJ (long, long ago!), I love listening to the radio and don't mind the commercials. [kareng]
I always listen to the radio. If for some reason I can't it drives me crazy and I actually have trouble driving. My favorite is the local station from the university 2 blocks from me or Family Life Radio. When traveling I sometimes resort to tapes or CDs because I can't find a radio station I like. [byfaithonly]
I always search out a radio station first before resorting to CD's. I do carry a stash of favorite CD's in my car though for emergencies! I love the local stations and the contests :) [kareng]
I always listen to the cd, I hardly ever put on the radio, only to hear traffic news if I knew I was driving through a hotspot. I have tonnes of cds in my car, so I never get bored with the same ones. Most of my cd collection in the cars is the 80s decade. It's nearly always pop music I will listen to. Anything from UB40 to Duran Duran, Fleetwood Mac to Roxy Music. Keeps me relaxed and stress-free. [wolfie34]
See the radio is still useful..hehe. I love listening to local radio and keeping up with the news. The traffic is horrible here after Hurricane Katrina and traffic reports is a must on the drive into work. This morning there were wrecks everywhere. I was able to get off the interstate but the traffic was still bundled up and backed up forever. [kareng]
When I am driving around I listen to CDs that I have made. These have my favorite songs on them. I cannot stand radio because we only have about 4 local stations and they have nothing but a bunch of talking. I mean seriously, one day I listened for over 30 minutes and had not heard a single song! That is when I started making CDs! We also have a problem in this town of the disc jockeys playing too much country music! [crazynurse]
A good mix makes a good radio station. It sounds like your town's stations need new managers :) My kids love to burn CD's, that is a great way to have your favorites all in one place! [kareng]
I start with a radio station until they all become talking. Then I change to a CD. Lately though on long trips I have enjoyed a few books on tape, they make the trip go a lot faster and I can get into the book so easily. [wmg2006]
I've never listened to books on CD ever and probably wouldn't of thought of it in the car. [kareng]
It all depends on my mood. The radio usually has either the same music that I don't like, or it contains new music that I want to discover. So many times when I am tired of listening to cd's, I will turn on the radio to see if anything new is coming out. If not, then I will hurriedly put the cd back in the cd-player. LOL :-P [Kicker55]
So much depends on the mood...lol! [kareng]
I usually have a selection of cds in the car, our local radio stations are usually pretty boring, I prefer rock and goth music in the car. [recycledgoth]
I have to have something when I'm driving, especially if on the interstate and it is rather boring. Music keeps me entertained and awake! [kareng]
It depend on the timing. If in the morning, I will listen to the radio to get some early news. If it is afternoon or night time, then I will like to have CD on. But now my car radio is not working, so i am singing myself..LOL [gsl3692]
I would go nuts without my radio in my car! LOL at your singing!! [kareng]
My radio is broken so right now I do a lot of singing, or bring along a portable CD player. I will be I will be replacing it though with a brand new stereo. Then I will be listening to CDs all of the time. The radio is ok once in a while, but I usually only listen to it if I want a weather update. [kelly60]
Thanks, I still sing in my car all of the time, but it is so much nicer if I have some music to sing with. [kelly60]
I listen to CDs because our radio doesn't work. Even if I had a radio though, I still will listen to CDs more. [mama_of_two]
I usually forget to rotate my CD's in my car and get tired of listening to the same ones over and over. I need to do a better job since I've been going out of town so much to see the grandbaby :) [kareng]
I do both.if nothing on the radio I listen to my cds.if I am tired of listening to my cds then I would find something on the radio to listen to. [coco526]
That is what I do on long trips, just switch back and forth and it keeps me happy :) [kareng]
While driving I listen to music. It can be from the local radio stations or from a CD. I don't like to listen to other programmes while driving. Music is soothing and tension relieving and inspiring too. [krishnageethika]
I started listening to talk radio a few years ago and really got hooked on it. Now when I get tired of hearing the same songs over and over, I switch over to talk radio! [kareng]
I usually listen to the radio. Most of the time I'm only in the vehicle for a short time. I have my favorite stations programmed on the radio. I have to use a portable with adapter to play CD's. If I'm on a long drive, I do sometimes listen to Cd's. [catherIN]
I have my favorites programmed in too, not just for my city but those that I travel to often as well. [kareng]
I have to have the local radio station on while I'm driving or I will go nuts. I would love to have the satelite radio but can't afford it so I guess I'll just have to put up with the commercials. I don't get to listen to cd's cuz my kids take them and I can't find them so just the radio for me. [mamashane]
Oh yeah, I remember the kid thing. And if you ask if they have it or where it is...it's I dunno!! I love listening to the radio! [kareng]
I listen to 1 radio station and that's it. If it's too many commercials (which happens sometimes) I try one more station. I don't even really know any others :) IF the station plays a song I don't like, I always have a CD popped in so I can hit play until that song on the radio is over. Sometimes I listen to a whole CD, but since I only have 6 CDs in my car I've heard them so many times I'm done with them. On a trip is the hardest b/c I can never find a station! In those cases, I gotta bring plenty of CDs. [vivasuzi]
I agree with you on traveling. You need to bring a lot of CD's with you. I like to have a variety of CD's and generes of music for long trips. It seems when you finally find a radio station that you like it goes out of range and you have to start all over again. I would rather listen to CD's in this case! [kareng]
When I'm in the mood for something specific, I put on a cd. But rather than listening to same all recorded music from the same all cds, I turn on the radio aswell. The thing is that on the radio music is random, songs are random. Sure there are two or three songs you don't like, but the rest of them are usually the good ones. I even don't pay attention to the radio, but when a good, well known song pops up, it gets my attention and I sing a little, and so on... That's how the drive time passes... [boldriq]
The thing with radio stations these days are so many programs are syndacated and pre-recorded. You will end up listening to the same thing over and over. This drives me crazy. My favorite station in town still has live DJ's and they play a lot of requests whichs keeps the songs from being the same thing and in same order. [kareng]
I do both...listen to tapes/cds and listen to the radio. also, a new concept I know....but I also talk with the person who is in the car with me. [bgerig]
I have to say conversation is the best if you have someone else in the car! [kareng]
When im traveling down to Columbus to visit my cousin. I usually play a mix of CDs i have enough of them and enough varition of music that i dont get bored for the 3 hour drive while listening to CDs [yvonne1968]
I usually try to listen to the radio to get a little bit of variety in the music that I'm listening to, but when there are a lot of adds on all of the radio stations, I start to listen to CDs. [hcromer]
I like music. I prefer to listen music on CD than to listen it on radio. In CD I can listen to my favourite songs and also I think that the quality of the sound in a CD is better than of a radio. In a long drive only I listen to radio sometime for a change. My hubby also like to listen his favourite songs on CD while driving. [sweetlady10]
On long trips, we usually get audio books on CD from the library. They're great for drives. In town, I just switch on the radio. I don't often go far enough to get into the habit of putting in a CD. Actually, I don't know if my car even has a CD player. It's been that long! [cjthedog64]
when i am driving, i used to listen to the radio.....but if there's no good music that i can hear at the radio, then i play CD [baby83]
It depends on which vehicle I'm driving. My car has a Cd player and my hubby's doesn't. I like to always have a cd in when I'm driving to work so I can pick the music I listen to. [dfinster]
i swear by my own music collection that i have painstakingly compiled over the course of time, but there are times when i recourse to switching on the radio just to break the monotony. there is only so many times that i can listen to the same stuff again and again, no matter how much i enjoy the thing. it does tend to get repetative after a while and like they say,'too much of a good thing is a bad thing.' twith the ever growing number of music stations that we have and with the quality of songs getting better with every passing day, i never get bored of listeneing to the radio. if there are ads running or if theres a song that i dont fancy, then i simply switch over to another station. i dont care much for the banter of the radio jocks, its good music which drives me. [skb369]
I prefer listening t the radio station, unless there is nothing good on then I will also put a C.D. in and listen to it. [sunlover]
I do both. It really depends on my mood because sometimes I want the radio and others I want a cd in. When I go visit home I usually start out with a cd but as soon as I get to the area where a certain radio station comes in, I turn the cd off and listen to the radio. But most of the time no matter where I am or where I'm going there is a cd in. [rodeotexas]
both, it depends what is on at the time i always keep a cd in the disc player for the boreing commercials and now when i have rylan in the car we have to listen to his cds (i wont deny i love the kid songs that are on his cd)!! [nicolecab]
Around town, I generally listen to the radio. Before going on a trip I always burn a ton of cd's with my favorite songs on them to listen to. I hate scanning around stations I don't know and finding a good one that cuts in and out. So, cd's it is for long trips. [emma412]
I mostly listen to the radio as I drive a lot for work and get to know the schedules and the presenters. It is like hearing old friends and much more companionable than a cd or tape. Same goes for tv when I'm in the house - I prefer the radio anytime! [Noot54]
Most of the time it's CD's. Probably ones I've made. But occasionaly. I have a feature artist. Rod Stewart at the moment. I do like a bit of Radio on- until the DJ's start wittering alot of that feel good rubbish. If I get the timing right I can listen to my record - then the radio alternately. However the radio is useful for seeing if there are any jams ahead. [jolmartyn]
I do both. I burn CDs with music I love, so that's what I listen to most of the time, but every once in a while I'll get bored of my own music and turn the radio on. [sofia29]
I usually start with the radio. If the stations are all playing the same old stuff, then I put in a CD. I really want to get an adapter so that I can play my ipod in the car. I could just put it on shuffle and not hear the same song twice on a drive. [Withoutwings]
i mainly listen to the CD's which i have personally recorded to add all my favourite songs in it. i enjoy listening to the CD [alpine_007]
hi that's about the only time that i listen to the radio is when i'm in my car traveling somewhere. at home, if i want to listen to music, i go to youtube.com and clean house or do dishes or something while i'm listening. i find that if i listen to music while cleaning up the house, it makes it go faster for me. have a wonderful day!
