I have to say since everything that has happened in the last week, I have considered purchasing a greatest hits compilation or boxed set or something of his music, because sad to say, although I have heard many many of his songs, I don't own albums!
Sooo.. I want to put the question out here to all of you - do you have a favorite Michael Jackson song, and do you own the albums? Hi mommyboo! I have a whole collection of Jackson 5 albums, Michael Jackson albums and no working turntable! I have to get a new one! I also have some cassettes. I just ordered two CD's from Best Buy over the weekend of compilations of Michaels hits. One is called "The Essential Michael Jackson-CD and is a two CD set with alot of his greatest songs. And the other one is a Jackson 5 hits. As for favorite songs, I have so many! I love "Got To Be There", "Ben", "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough", "Rock With You", "Billie Jean", "Beat It", and of course "Thriller"! And so many more! I wish I could listen to them now, but most of them are on albums! The CD that I ordered has alot of the, but they were backordered because the store was sold out on every CD that Michael Jackson ever made! They said I could get it within 2-4 weeks! [Opal26]
Hi Opal! I know I didn't answer this right away but I had to start listening so I could actually respond... I'm actually listening to Dirty Diana lol. The essential set sounds like what I want. I want something physical to see and hold in my hands, most of my music collection right now is digital mp3, on my computer, but I used to collect vinyl too and I have tons of cds. I think I want cds - I can rip them to my collection or not, but I can't touch a digital file. I don't have a turntable either so any of the vinyl I still have is strictly collector items I guess. I'm actually not old enough to have known about the Jackson 5... I mean I know NOW but at the time when I discovered Michael Jackson, I had had no idea he had already been part of another group and basically since he was what, NINE? I probably first heard him in 82 and then the whole moonwalking thing was a big deal. I still don't think I can do it right. lol You know, with all the cds and music being ordered, this demand probably would have totally gotten rid of his debts before he died. I'm just speculating, but I have been seeing the crowds of people on tv paying respects, it is amazing. [mommyboo]
My most favorite MJ song is called "Off the wall" I put it on a cd for my son and he was listening to it almost everyday when we drove somewhere in the truck and now he's having a hard time listening to it because he's sad about MJ's death. He also loves Smooth Criminal. [nixxi76]

I really did not listen to much of Jackson's music until after his death, because all his songs and the music videos have been playing nonstop on the Television. I have come to respect the messages that MJ sent out in his songs and I wish more artists would work to send out such positive messages. His songs talked a lot about real life issues and about problems in society! Something people could relate to, something people could benefit from! Music nowadays is all centered around drugs and sex. Instead of discouraging the bad things in society like MJ's songs did, singers now encourage them! I wish I had more knowledge about MJ and his music before he died, I have really come to appreciate his work! My favorite song by him would have to be "They dont really care about us". I've never liked artists and celebrities that go on and on about things by speaking - but when they frame it up in a song that goes to the top, that's how ya do it. Do you know if he wrote most of/all of his music? Seems to me that's something I should have known but it's easy to look up. I know he wrote the USA for Africa song, I watched that video before this one and amazingly enough that is one of the few celebrity fundraiser pieces of music that I've actually been moved by. I am a die hard fan of MJK (thats what I call Michael Jackson) and I have purchased all his albums. In all his albums, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and HIStory stand out. Dangerous is considered a path breaking album and all songs are extra ordinary. Dangerous Title song is awesome, Jam Song mindblogging, and rest of all songs are on par. It is difficult to pick out the good song as all songs are huge hits. I personally like Dangerous title song, beat it, Jam, In the closet, Remember the Time, Bad. You tube has huge number of MJK's video's some of which nicely mixed but I prefer you to go for the original numbers. [tskmjk55]

Sure thing! I wasn't well acquainted with most Jackson 5 tunes, I wasn't born till 74. I have discovered that I have actually heard a LOT of them in things, movies, tv, background, etc but didn't really dig to find out who it was or the song titles. Well, I grew up listening to the Jackson 5, my mom and aunts were huge Jackson 5 fans so the songs I like from them would have to be: I'll Be There, The Jackson 5 Christmas Album, Got To Be There, and I Wanna Be Where You Are. I know it's some more but I have a brain freeze right now with the Jackson 5. Now, my favorite Michael Jackson songs would have to be from old to newer: PYT, The Lady in My Life, Rock With You, Man in the Mirror, You Are Not Alone, Remember the Time, Butterflies, and Heaven Can Wait. Alot of these songs really show his vocal capabilities and how great of a singer he was. I actually had most of these songs on my computer until I got a virus a few months ago and wasn't able to back anything up. Hiya mommyboo I have most of MJ's older albums and wasn't too thrilled with the newer compilations, which were just a re-release of most of his older ones with a few new songs thrown in for good measure. I downloaded most of the newer ones and just made up a folder of my own. My favourite song is 'You rock my world' not sure if I have it on my youtube though, will have to check. So much of this country region banning going on that I was unable to play a lot of them on youtube and have even had to remove my playlist from my Lot profile because of it cry Alice happy [Aliceinwebland]

i think thriller, beat it, bad, black or white are all good songs. i would say Beat it is his best, but i love the thriller music video. the current day music artists just dont do it the same way anymore. most fascinating is his dancing style which completely reset the bar for music. [KupoSin]

Hello laurahen, there are too many songs to have to pick only one song. I was listening to the Jackson 5 in the 1970's. I even got to see the Jacksomn 5 in concert around 1973 or 1974. I was either 9 or 10 so I don't exactly remember the exact year. It was my very first concert.That was the only time I got see MJ perform live.Songs and video's that stick out for me, Smooth Criminal,Thriller,Billie Jean, Rock with you,Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' .
